Thanks, I have some problem with the tips of the fiber, when use higher profile and segments there are black tips of the fiber without UV's at all , I hope they fix this bug as soon as possible.. it does not show when using the profile1 with low segments but more when you create the TUBE look for the fiber .

I am going to make some video today for my people about using some brushes for cut and grow of the hair so check out my youtube /mec4d

People mentioned before that you can't do that what is false statement , it virtually cut and grow the hair but technically the mesh will have the same poly count , that why it is good to generate short fibers and safe the poly count using the groom brushes .. I mostly exporting the fiber to other applications for use and the specific poly count is importing for rigging and animation.

yes i would absolutly agree with this.. per pallette reset button would also be a much better way.. if you dont like the setting just revert and start fresh.. really dont know why there isnt this option..

Yes agree! I messed around with FIBER MESH so much that I just couldn't get a simple hair fiber anymore.
Fortunately I had to reinstall my system anyway so I captured the original fresh settings.
    Maybe that helps a little.

These are the factory settings of Fibermesh which cause this sample fibers:

Would love a script that can reset this an easy way!
Just a simple button that resets.
    Anyone?

I wonder if it could be saved with the main profile, and when you do a reinitilization, if that would restore the settings? They have to be saving the settings somewhere.

I tried that the other day, it doesn't seem to work for me.

I made this but I dont know anything about scripts and dont even know how to make it go.... mainly cause there is no play button.
So I'm also going to post it over in the ZScripting section and see if anyone there has an answer.
Another thing, if this DOES work it could be altered by external programs and scripting tools such as Python or something and automated into making ZBrush do all sorts of procedural modeling automatically and THAT would be totally insane.

Here is the script, if anyone knows how to make it do something other than just exist I would be thrilled:

    EDIT!!!!!!!!!!
    IT WORKS!!!!!!!!
    Coffee is my friend!!!!

If you dont have or dont see a "PLAY" button hit the HIDE ZSCRIPT or SHOW ZSCRIPT button in the Script pallet. (the play button shows up in that weird slot at the bottom of the ZBrush window.)

Also I did not change color, you are on your own with that!

If some of the settings are off let me know, its somewhat easy to fix!

    Another Edit:
When posting scripts like this you have to disable smilies, there is no limit to how shortcuts for thinking can screw stuff up.

Still another Edit: I corrected some of the settings, its tricky not twitching while making these things, people with cheap mice, track pads or just a Wacom Tablet would be screwed.

    Cheers!

Please post questions (and answers) regarding FiberMesh and other features in the Questions & Troubleshooting forums rather than within this thread. Thanks!

Per Aurick's request, I posted our fibermesh reset and load/save requests in the troubleshooting forum here:

If I left anything out, please add it there.

I sent my script over there as well.
Its getting confusing posting the same thing in three different places
One where people should find it, one where people will find it and one where its supposed to go
and only a few people will find it.
I suppose however that makes it easier to find! Right?
Maybe I should make it worse. hehehe!

    Default Feathers?

Has anyone tried creating feathers and feathering a bird using fibermesh/micromesh with good results? I have a thread started on this but am having trouble getting getting anything worth keeping.

    Thanks!

I would like to have the option to save my setting and use next time when I open Zbrush right now the settings are the same as long you don't close the app .. but I think it will not work so very well if you use different density of the models or mask , each surface is unique
Nice Feathers Mec4D! Would it be possible to share your settings and/or give a short tutorial on how you achieved this look? I'm attempting to feather a bird myself but am also really interested in how to create the shorter contour feathers for the entire body as well.

    Thanks!
