I just followed the tree fibermesh video tutorial, and really learned a lot from that. The first one I did didn't have the fibers imbedded properly, but doing the second one I discovered that control.

EDIT: That was a fun video to watch, and I liked the music! How much doodle time was compressed into that 8 minutes?

I wonder if there is a way to actually shorten or cut hairs. I tried using the ClipCurve tool, but that will wrap hair if are not all in the same direction...

You can virtually using smooth brush or polish , it will create the effect like you cutting the hair , this works the same way as the groom length brush but reversed , it is more simple to create shorter hair and using the groom length brush to scale the hair to desire length in place of cutting or smoothing ..

I love that it remembers the fibre settings per subtool incase you make multiple masked areas in multiple steps. But if I for example have 2 different subtools on which I need the same kind of fibres, is there a method to store all the settings i used to generate fibres on 1 certain subtool and use those same settings on a different subtool?

If not , maybe add a store / load settings in the future to easily copy over fibre settings to apply to different subtools.

I would like to bump/echo the above Question as well! =) Could someone write a simple Zscript to add a set of buttons that would be like UV Master's "Copy UV" "Paste UV" buttons/functions? I would imagine creating a script to easily copy and paste all current fibermesh settings wouldn't be too much work?

And also, regarding Fibermesh and Feather creation, is there a way to modify the Fibers to be flat/2 sided, adjust the curve to be tiny at the root wide in the middle and then tiny again at the tip with random breaks through out to create feathers? =) Thanks for the info in advance!

I would think you could use the SliceCurve tool rather nicely to shape a feather, I have not tried this on feathers but I did trim an eyebrow using it

Yes you can do it , you can create feather look , or even scales or lizard skin , use the Profile and segments to create the desired effect , I am little test this morning for scales and feather .. it was couple of minutes work so still not perfect .. very low in size just around 19K only

I would like to have the option to save my setting and use next time when I open Zbrush right now the settings are the same as long you don't close the app .. but I think it will not work so very well if you use different density of the models or mask , each surface is unique

Loading fibermesh settings would be a GREAT enhancement feature. Where do we recommend this?

I would be happy already if I had a reset button to default , when you working on different subtools the fiber setting stay the same until you close the app , if you want to start again you need to manually reset everything and start creating new setting .. if you could load the same setting back it would be also great , right now it is difficult to set the same setting if you want to finish some project next day and add some extra fiber groups ..

They said they were going to release a patch fairly quick for another issue.. maybe they could add that reset on open option in it, since it should be pretty easy to do?

Hey, thanks for the reply Mec4D. And wow, those feathers/wings look BEAUTIFUL! Like a giant Blue Bird! =) Gorgeous! Once I'm done w/my current piece, I'll be exploring fibermesh for my next major piece. Can't wait... what you can do with it looks amazing! =D
