    Default My Portfolio Pieces

Hello everyone, I've spent a long time reading these forums and tutorials but this is my first post.
I'd like to share with you my portfolio pieces to see what you think, C&C's are very welcome.
I like to throw myself in at the deep end so these are the only pieces I have done in ZBrush,
learning the program from scratch however was a very enjoyable experience thanks to this intuitive program.

Here is my first piece, learning the basics about the program.

My second piece based on Futurama's Zoidberg

This toy rabbit was a concept by a wonderful artist Berk Ozturk http://berkozturk.deviantart.com/gal...abbit#/d38ova2

Finally Keron Grant's Lo Fat character http://kerong.deviantart.com/gallery/?q=lo#/d37lywc

I'm am looking forward to hearing from you all.

Thank you very much, I'm glad you like it. It has been really enjoyable making them and I feel I'm getting a little bit better each time.
I should say that all rendering was done in ZBrush as well as sculpting and texturing. However base models for the stick insect and
the toy rabbit were made in 3DS Max.

Anyone else have any thoughts/crits? Are these pieces good enough to be able to present in my portfolio to get a job as a character creator?
I realize its important to have a show reel but rendering one out would take a large amount of time.
I thought that some well rendered pieces might be able to get me into a low level modelling job?

Any post and C&C would be much appreciated.

These aren't bad but I would try and work harder if you want these to be portfolio pieces you send out to companies to get a character modeling job. Take a look at the other work on this site, look at the top row guys and try and strive for that kind of attention to detail/lighting/rendering. Right now Id have to say these aren't going to be good enough to get you into a big time role. Its hard but its the truth. Study anatomy more and do some basic studies. You dont have to do whole characters just yet if youre not comfortable with it. Read up on anatomy/draw/do sketches and post them here. Eventually your quality will be as good as the individuals who get their work posted on the top row.

    Good luck!

Thanks for your honest opinion NickNitro, I realise I'm still a long way off the top row guys. Ill be sure to take your advice on studying anatomy,
its something I've been meaning to do for a while now. As for a big time modelling job with no experience in the field and little to no job references
its unlikely I would be accepted. I was looking more into a small time modelling job at an up and coming CG/game/advertising house. Moving up from there.

Thanks again for the advice, its much appreciated. Heres a lil something I did during a lunch break.

Default How to make feathers with fibermesh!

Hey guys its been quite a long time since my last post, have been quite busy with some projects.
Anyway I have really been liking the new fibermesh feature in ZBrush and as I have a project containing a bird I decided to do a tutorial on bird feathers.
Hi-Res images can be found on my blog http://thinkzbrush.wordpress.com/
    Hope you like it!
