    @AndreaTheSigner:

    Why thank you, that is very nice of you to say. I am feeling my way around in Zbrush and while I did work in the industry in the early 90's it was as a special effects animator not character animation. Basically I have been a photographer most of my life so I have a sense of design and color sense I hope. Cheers, David

    More 2.5D madness. I am trying to push this process and take it further along!

    More 2.5D ... I often use just one tool as a "brush" different settings set the tool to the canvas in very different ways, I change materials often. I do some post in Photoshop, basically applying a conversion to B&W .... I used to rely on Desaturate and then use the history brush to paint away the changes, now I use a Viveza plugin which gives me many more options than just plain desaturate ( It simulates many different photographic looks ... sepia, cyanotype, Holga, Tintype and a host of other effects) I find that my color 2.5D painting has more of a feeling of depth when I selectively blend color and monochrome in the same image. I hope that makes sense!

    Another 2.5D piece. Kinda looks like an Ark ... minus the sea and the animals.

    @michaels:

    Thank so much ... very flattering coming from you! 2.5D is interesting, I experiment with old and almost forgotten tools and brush them on to the canvas it is often hit or miss.

    I am not up to really being able to sculpt but I am working on it ... I am hoping that Santa is bringing me that Scott Spencer book on sculpting the human form. One step at a time, I have been lurking around ZBC for years but only started posting work four weeks ago.

    All the best,
    David

    2.5D redux. This is approaching the look I am trying to achieve. Let me know your thoughts!

    nope...
    I don't know what I'm doing but I'm doing it anyway.

    Hi Melea,

    It was a tool that I made some time ago, it was applied in several different strokes ... freehand, conic, spray, dragdrop etc I also used snakehook brush (large brush size) to nudge things around.

    Glad you like this new work! I especially like my last one, I have another I just finished that I am dying to post, but I don't like to put up too many at the same time.

    All the best,
    David

    Hi David

    I think you are on to something..I really like the post above #114...It has a convincing sense of atmosphere and depth with the edges of the forms being less crisp as they recede into space, and more crisp as they come into the forground...Great subtle color gradations and combinations also..The sculpture is tied into the background nicely through edge control, lighting/shadow/shade and color...Outanding job...and exploration..
    I checked out your website photo's...Excellent composition and design skills.. I really enjoyed the subjects in the photo's also..Nice feeling in all of them ..great emotions projected...

    @SpiritDreamer:

    Hi Glenn,

    Thanks so much for the kind words. I am glad that you like this work, I feel that it is a direction I want to follow for a while!

    I am also pleased that you enjoyed my photographic work .... I don't believe I have ever been a follower so doing something here that is a bit different does not bother me.

    All the best,
    David
