LMAO! Dragon, it's kinda weird how you always post here just as I save a new .jpeg to upload.
Lights = DONE
Guns = DONE
Engine = DONE
(Most of) Body work = DONE
ToDO = more rivets, finish detailing the small tactical nuke (that's what I'm calling it for now) underneath the body, add a seat for the gunner, texture and polypaint.
If anyone else can think of something I need/ought to do, please give me a shout out. I really don't want to mess this up.
Last update for the night? Probably not...

Gary, thank you for your comments. There are actually hoses and fittings, but they're on the back side and you can't see them at all from any angle that faces the front of the mech. They're not the most realistic looking things by real-world standards and the placement would probably be considered weird, but hey, this ain't real life!
Here's a small detail of the area you're talking about.

First painting pass. And experimenting with battle damage.
There are very few tutorials regarding battle damaged armor in ZBrush out there, so if anyone has suggestions I'd appreciate it.
Edit; I just realized on this bpr he's got his front "toes" up in the air a touch. I'm going to build a base for him to stand on anyway so that will be fixed in the end.

That's looking great Voodoo. Sorry, I can't recall any specific battle damaged texturing for Zbrush specifically. But there is a fair amount of information on creating distressed texturing on the net. It would seem that those could help.
Your doing a great job on this model.
Ezra
cool didnt see hoses in back - diggin the camo paint !!

Ezra, thanks man. I'm improvising doing the wear and tear right now. I think it looks fairly convincing, but I'll let you guys decide from my update. Your truck is sooo slick looking! I can't wait to try some Big Daddy Roth type vehicles, although the rounded hard surfaces frankly give me the heebie-jeebies. As you can see I deliberately avoided curved surfaces on anything that wasn't at a ninety degree angle to the camera.
Gary, Thanks! Your hard surface stuff is an inspiration to me!

The most subtools I've ever used by far (37). Yet the lowest polycount ever (5,160,906)! Is it wrong that I'm a little proud of that?

Added dusty stuff to the feet and lower areas.

Wow. Note to self. Don't work on a model when you have a 102 degree fever. Wasn't feeling well at all yesterday and took a look at my mech this morning. Uggh! Went way too far on the battle damage so I'm starting the paint job from scratch.

Went with a pretty different look this time. Wanted a sand-blasted and worn look without going to the lengths I did yesterday and losing a bunch of detail. Added some grease to the piston things and a bit of soot to the ends of the exhaust pipes. Lastly made a base.

Much better shot here. Any suggestions on what to do with the mats on the shoulder guns? They look like super-soakers right now.

Hey Vodoodad ... good progress on this! If you want to study the work of a master modeler and also amazing texturing, weathering etc. Check Top Row ced66 . Cheers, david![]()
