Thanks for the great comments, Rykka! For inspiration, first I get an idea of what I'd like to do next. Then I go to google and start searching images. I'm a big image whore, I've got like 10 gigs in my image folders alone. I find a few pics that I like and then go to Zbrush and start getting the basic shapes down. I use vague impressions from a lot of different images to get what I want on the screen and that way it ends up being my own creation as opposed to just a clone of a single image I've seen. I've really gotten a fondness for steampunk mechanicals lately and that's why most of my sculpts lately have had that sort of theme. I'm really bad at organic sculpting (as you can see if you look at the first half of this thread) but I'm attempting to get a little organic feel into my mechanicals for the past week or two.
Anyway, here's my morning progress. The hand is unattached until get to the posing stage just to make it easier to work on.
