you've got a good start for only a week mate.. yeh as said above, you can never have enough reference when sculpting, i found that learning the anatomy of a skull helps alot when sulpting a head, and the planes of the face are good to know as well. Once u know that, everything will just fall into place, with practice that is..

Another thing i do, is i keep my sculpts around about 400k to 500k polys for quite a while, it lets me get my forms and the start of my detail before i go up to higher sub div levels, and a good brush to you for me personaly is the Clay build up brush, on a low Z intensity works great for building forms slowly without everything bulging out too much. but yeh thats just me.. use whats best for you..

ur images show steady improvement, nice work mate, keep practicing

yup, your on the right track mate, what u need to do now is go down a few sub div lvls so things are easier to move around.. first round off the head front and back, so it has a nice curve.. on any human skull ( while they come in many different shapes and sizes ) the cheek bone is the widest part of the skull, the back of the jaw bone, pull back to the middle of the skull a bit, and where it turns to go up towards the ear canal, that angle should be inline with the teeth, i would also bring your teeth down a bit and pull them forward away from the skull, they have a buldge at the front.

Sorry i can't think of more technical terms, im not advanced in my anatomy.
i just finished my own skull a couple of days ago, if u care to check it out to see what i mean with bone placement, while mine isn't photoreal, u'll get the picture.

don't be discouraged about the car, to be honest i wouldn't even bother building a car in Zbrush, yes while the extreme experts can do, no one would really do it for a production, it would normaly be done in maya or another external 3d modelling program which is alot more acurate..

start small, then work up, keep at your skull, try some faces keeping in mind the same principals as the skull

    OH...!
another useful trick in art.................. look at your sculpt UP SIDE DOWN.... no im not joking.. it forces the brain to ignore the recognition part and see things it normally wouldn't see when u constantly stare at something for hours on end, you'll automatically feel something isn't right, then u know where to go and fix it up.

hope that helps.. do your update, if u would still like some help, i can do a draw over for ya
never be discouraged mate... and don't be affraid to stuff up a model, i stuff them up all the time lol.. just means ive found out a way on how NOT to make a model, and learn from my mistakes.

yup yup! will do! and actually am a 3D animation student, and i started drawing 4 years ago, and progressing fast! XD started from zero and now the people i used to look up to are recognizing me XD am not bragging XD muhahahahahahaha! anyway yeah! i did the car model because after i graduate this year am planing to buy a zbrush license since i cant afford Maya ( I hate Maya ) so i want to learn how to do everything inside Zbrush, yesterday i set a project for my self.

one of my original characters got mechanics and of course organic sculpt so he will be my project to explore all the tools i can use on him from masking to trimming to build up clay, etc...

and of course i have to finish with the skull before i start on him and plus i have my internship going T_T and college project for the final year AND the dissertation! O_O total mental torture! O_O anyway thanks for ur time writing this long reply and i checked ur skull and its seriously awesome! nice job u have done there!

will do my best to look into fixing mine XD and yeah i know the lower the division the better u can fix and move around XD

    thanks mate!

wow sounds like u have a lot on your plate, best of luck getting it all done.. 3D college is always fun. U don't like maya huh..? every studio uses a major 3d package like Maya or XSI, 3dsMax, not everything is done in Zbrush for production, its just not possible, and to be employable in the industry you'll need to know one of the major packages.. you'll get used to it. I love maya. but everyone has their own preference.. but by all means learn as much Zbrush as u can, everything helps.

I hope everything goes well for ya, happy modelling.

oh, and thanks for the comment on my skull

yeah i know the sad fact that every studio uses AutoDesk Products but as for me am doing my best not to get involved in using em, am doing my best to improve my self as a concept artist, and i know maya basics from modeling, unwrapping, texturing, lighting, rigging and animation XD i have done it and i have a short animated film ( suck one! ) , but still dont like it, i find maya too confusing and too complicated for my taste, u have an idea!, and when u r just modeling the base mesh u lose interest in the whole thing, when in Zbrush u can wrap things up in 5 hours and start tuning whenever u have the time, but at least u can see results quickly, am sure u know what i mean XD anyway thanks for the support, tips and advices I will do my best!
