it looks like the image was resized. and there's a bit of aliasing going on. you can bet a much better quality out of zbrush with just a few clicks. you can change the document size and render with BPR. you're gonna have to grab the document (ctrl+shift+g) and export it to photoshop so you can save it as a jpeg, unless they changed that in r2.

you should work on anathomy issues.
furthermore the final looks like the viewportrender to me.

I think you should really take a look to your mesh and your reference image, the lack of details is huge and the similarities are not that accurate either, I looks like a WIP more than the final result.
And can you tell me, doctor, why I stil can't get to sleep?
And night-time's just a jungle dark and a barking M16?
And what's this rash that comes and goes, can you tell me what it means?
God help me, I was only ninteen.

You should experiment a bit more with the "sketch" materials in ZBrush and see how they play with your geometry.
I would perhaps round out the forms a bit more, then play with the "slash3" brush to make some of the linework seen in the reference image.

Make a few strokes first just to see what depth you need to get the look right.

Then I would go for a black and white image first, send to photoshop, then do a polypaint with "Flat" material to do the colors and composite with "multiply".

Maybe one can do it all in ZBrush with the new render enhancements. I haven´t really figured out how to do those new hip BPR renders yet.

Clearly you understand how 3D sculpting works, the piece just needs a bit of an extra push to make it the eyecandy it deserves to be.

    Work it to the bone!
