    Default Grim Reaper WIP

Ok for those that don't know I started a ghost rider (which I posted main forum) and I decided to tweak the skull a bit and see what I could do real quick and what everyone thinks. It is far from done and I just slapped some paint on to get a rough idea. Anyway thanks for looking!

    Default Update!

I changed the pose a bit andI got the hands done and will still have to pose his right hand to hold the scythe. I am working on figuring out the wrinkles and the best way to approach it. Any tips or advice would be greatly appreciated.

    Default Question

Can anyone tell me why I can't seem to get matchmaker to work like i see in the videos? I am trying to get the chest section of the robe to match the underlying ribs. When I try it with Zadd it does nothing and Zsub does just that it subtracts the cloth where the ribs are. Would lowering my poly's help any or is it something totally different?

    Hi ethanashton

Looking good so far. I don't think Matchmaker is going to work in your situation. I havn't used it very much, but I know that the underlying shape has to be bigger than the shape your trying to conform otherwise anything overhanging will get pushed way back. As for the folds in the robe, check this out and see if it helps. Good luck with the challenge!

Got ya. I will mess with it some more but I think you are right for the most part because it really tries to push the robe out the back. Thanks a lot for the crit and
    link man.

I would google images for grim reaper and search for something that resembles your pose and try to use that as a reference for your cloth. Also there are probably some good ideas on how to pose and "silhouette" mr. death.

I really like the way the hands look. I think you nailed the bonyness right on the head! You could perhaps give the head more structure just to get more of those browny shadows. You could thicken/inflate the edges around the eyesockets and by the jaw line. The way the bulges of the tooth canal look and shade is the way to go in my opinion!

i would just suggest grabbing some cloth reference and trying different looks on this guy. i think you are definitly headed in a good direction but you should really look for ways to push this sculpt further. maybe tear the cloth a little around the wrists/hood. add a few holes? idk just suggestions cause he looks a little young. too clean...make him ancient

other than that, nice job bro!
we await ourselves in the future.

Thank you all for the feedback. Still not done with it or the clothing but I wanted to show progress and see what you all thin about making it a statue? Thanks

This is coming on! I was going to suggest a sort of whispy twisty transparency fade-off going on down towards where his feet would be, but you've decided to make it a statue. Perhaps, though, you could modulate the materials on the way up his body to make it look like he's de-petrifying, becoming cloth and bone, coming 'alive'.

    Good luck!

Hey, looking good! Nice cloth is a nightmare to make, but you are definitely progressing in the right direction! Keep it up

Thank you arianerocket. I have some more done and I am thinking about wings and if I should attempt a realistic raven perched on his scythe

I had a fade off rip appearance going with texture maps and what not but the problem I am having is it looks kind of choppy (pixels) and also not sure how to get the lightcaps to work with it? I am adding wings changed the blade for right now. We will see when its all said and done!

If you paint the fade as black to white going up the statue, you should be able to use this to control the BPR Fade Filter. Fingers crossed!

Well here is an update! I am not sure if I will be able to get it done and it is frustrating as heck when you have a vision but because of the lack of proficiency with the software I am not able to get everything to look how I want or do what I want! Practice I know! I am really having trouble even making a cube that with when polyframe is on has a 4x4 dimension. so 8 cubes making one. I know it is something simple but I do not know what it is! Anyway here is what I have and it is still far from done. Oh the other thing is the blade is off somehow on color or material and I am not sure what i did?
