    Hi!

Very nice hair! It looks very natural agree that a rootbrush would be good and some sort of gravety brush maybe...
look forward to see more hairtests from you

    peace

For grooming those roots, take a brush like the GroomHairLong.
BrushMenu > FiberMesh > Forward Propagation > set slider to zero.
    Much better :-)
Save this brush as your standardbrush

    Wonderful portrait Bas !!!
Great work and modeling on fibers, still the render isn't convincing enough (on fibers).

Hey Michalis, yep, the fibers are a bit dull. They need a better highlight. Any suggestions or a recommended material?

    Hey!

Thanks for the tip on the brush will try it out. try one of the hair shaders that come with R3, they work pretty good after a few adjustments.

    Peace

Kokoro, yes it is hard to give hair a natural look. We should need a rootbrush to push the fibers at their root without moving the middle and tip. I made small groups and hided other parts, then pushed the roots with the fast length brush or the move brush. Making groups works well, when the root is selected the total hair is selected too. We should need a way to mask parts of the groups to get a better workflow. Or maybe a maskslider to mask hair from the root to the tip.
After finishing this head I played with the hairtools using the draw curve option. Be sure snapping and bend is on. This works great to make small details.
    Hey Bas

You can use masking to block out parts of the hair. In fact when masking ZBrush will mask out the whole hair. There is also a masking fiber feature in the masking subpalette that will allow you to use a curve to control where the masking will take place. You can also use polygroups to only focus parts of the fibers. There are new videos in ZClassroom covering some of this.

As for the brushes for the roots. This is possible to control. Try starting with the GroomColorRoot brush but turn off RGB and turn on Zadd. The fiber auto masking curve is turn to left so only roots will be moved. I would also turn up the Preserve Length in the fiber mesh subpalette. You can also turn this on for say the move brush so the geometry is not being stretched.

Let me know if you need the video link and if this helps.

Thanks Paul, I missed the maskfeature. This helps a lot! I tried it and it works perfect
For grooming the roots I prefer the brush I described before.

It pays to hang out in locker rooms. I little thought I'd get such great hair grooming advice from guys.

Again lovely sculpt Bas and great work on teasing the hair into place.
I haven't tried loading the new hairy ZBrush yet to my shame.

Thanks for the brush btw I have downloaded it to keep in a safe place for when I give hair a whirl - or should that be twirl - or possibly curl?
Talking of curls are they doable ?

Hey Booz, the brush is nothing special. Just take the long hair groom thing and put all sliders to zero. Then groom the details. When grooming I mostly use one brush and use those sliders. Works great after understanding how it works. Big fun.

    Hey Baz
You are getting some nice results with fibermesh. Some helpful info in this thread as well. I have yet to do human hair but it seems like the longer it is the harder it is to control. You seem to be getting the hang of it.
