Really nice.
The material and environment is wonderful!

I have spent the last two hours trying to get toward your render settings in this image…not a fruitful journey…
Would it be possible for you to shed some light on this (pun possibly intended).

Thanks and Cheers,

~MAH~

Fantastic!

Irres Model und grossartiges Render

Great work. Just wow. Yep, R2 rocks hell and it makes everything so intuitive.

I quote Mahlikus about a render setup tutorial. Would be simply awesome to get some “light” into such splendid render.

Thanks allot and Tschüss.

Markus

Nice render:+1:

Hi guys,

thank you for commenting on this one. the lightcap setup is actually pretty simple.
just download the file if you want to:

http://higher-lyrics.de/testLightCap.ZLD.zip
but please don´t expect anything special here.

The way to a good looking image in my opinion is the skills you have in post production.
Compositing is everything !!! step out of 3d as fast as possible

i also adjust the ao settings in the render globals to higher values as well.
I haven´t tried the new post filters in the new r2 version of zbrush yet. they look cool and
i´m going to give them a try but i prefer the work in photoshop.

you can make ugly renders look great that way

And i just follow simple principles that a photographer would:
depth, perspective and color.

e.g a good picture isn´t that saturated as you might expect. it also has little imperfections:
grain (noise) the main thing i use a lot is the ao pass and the the depth pass.

I do a little trick: i often use a inverted version of the depth pass
and add it BELOW the ao and the shadow pass. and i lower its opacity
then i change the layer mode to negative multiply.

this gives me the option to fake fog in post production and it adds a little
natural depth effect and atmosphere.

you could also use the depth pass as a layer mask for having total control
over color, sharpness or any effect you can imagine.
e.g the back areas of a model should be pixelated and the front ones are
perfect clear. just experiment with this concept.

feel free to download the example photoshop file as well:

it´s an old version save from cs1 but i don´t have the cash to upgrade ps at
the moment. i have no use for the new features of newer ps versions anyway

but i think it should be no problem to load the file into your new version of ps.
the model creation itself wasn´t that hard. i just randomly placed cylinders here and there.

I´m going to create something more complex and i´m going to spend more time for another
model in the next few days. this was just a project to learn the new features.

Cu soon
Ollie

Very good!!!

another experiment with the new features

just doodling around:

this is just amazing!

really nice , reminds me of some Akira art I saw at some point. The pen and ink/marker quality it has also just amazing.

Very Good Work here!

Only a question, where i must put the testlightcap.ZLD file to see it in ZB4r2?
Thanks

Bye

hi guys,

thank you for the nice comments. and @ serjoseph:

just load the lightcap file under:

Light/Lightcap/Open.

Maybe you have to adjust der h and v tiling vor the alphas - i don´t know why they aren´t saved properly.

some colors for this nice day:
