    Default Pirate_girl

My new character started out with persian influences but has become slightly piratey so I will probably push that some more.

just wondering if someone can tell me if the folds look ok? I've never sculpted clothing so I'm not of it. It's the coat I'm mainly converned about and the pants.PirateGirl.jpg

Here's a prelim colored version...I'm rubbish at picking colors! And some detailingPirateGirlcolourDetail.jpg

    thanks guys for any crits

Made some changes for base colours and been working on areas like belt, gloved hand and boots

    Are these colours better?

There is just something about her trousers I don't like, I think the mid section needs bringing up a bit

ok so I'm gonna make a version that has less of a dropped crotch and go for more normal looking harem pants but in the meantime I have altered the bust and waist a little...I think it's subtle but I wasn't happy with that area before because I used ref that didn't have a bra lol PIRATE_THIN.jpg

I want her to have hair coming out from under the hood for sure but don't know what style yet. I'll take another look at my ref for the arms too.

Long wavy hair would look pretty sweet and nice detailing on the belt and purse

    Really Good
But If I was you I'd give her a little more large buttocks and longer legs , because otherwise without corset she'll be very ugly

Here, on a very vintage photo you can see the difference with/without corset

As a refference I'd take the body of this girls

    But it's only my opinion

The belt and corset are looking really good. You should share the alpha used on the corset stitching :P

How did you make the strings/laces on the boots?

    Thanks for the replies guys.

AR-MAN - The corset isn't technically the type that holds you in as it's above the waist line and so is more of an underbust garment. So I figure she is more of an hourglass figure naturally. As a girl I don't really want to create a type like the girls in the pics just because they're bods are not visually appealing to me but I really appreciate the feedback.

Nyx702 - The stitching was super simple but here is the alpha anyway stich.jpg and I just fiddled with roll dist to get it to look like that. The laces on the boots were just short simple pieces that I duplicated and then moved into position. The bow bit I drew in Maya with a curve then extruded it and tweaked...it could do with more work but it'll hardly be seen so...

I'm thinking she needs extra pieces so maybe a set of leather pauldrons and chain with medallion...piercings and tattoos? Did a paintover- I suck at painting lol but you get the gist.

Also...maybe a gun? Pirates have blunderbusses right?

Actually, the more I look at the face the less happy I am...can someone critique the basic shapes for if they look ok? I can't tell anymore..haven't detailed yet though CharacterStripFace.jpg
Can't wait to give her eyebrows though..always look strange without them

Yes looking at the face now you've done the close up images, the face looks very child like

define the cheeks a bit more, the top of the nose push that in and bring the eyebrows out a bit, the lips need more work too

but its best to find reference of a female face you like and sculpt from the reference

I did use ref though...I'll post it here if it helps...I like this face so want to get close to the image
    sandra.jpg

I'm thinking nostrils need bringing in a touch made to look less round and do you think the eyes are too close together and need deeper set lids? I won't finish the lips till I'm ready for detail as the wrinkles and bulges in lips would add the required shape where I want it
