Post Orb - game environment stuff

    Hello!

I'm a french environment artist working for games and ,since i use zbrush a lot on my workflow, i decided to show some works i did last years.

Those images are from a little game called "Crasher". We were 2 environment artists, using the Unity engine. Its not a triple a or something crazy, but i really enjoyed working on it.Unfortunly you wont find this game anymore because the studio closed its doors recently.

Here is just few exemples of the assets i made, explaining the process i used for some of them.

original size images on my website. Hope you like it!

Really awesome stuff. I love how it feels like a very natural mix between illustrative and realistic.

Do you mind if I ask ow you created the samless tileable geometry/textures?

    5 stars!

    thanks for the comments!

Sickness: Do you mind if I ask ow you created the samless tileable geometry/textures?

I did the tilable geometry, using 3dsmax, importing my mesh decimated, and duplicating it on max on both sides, that way i can see where my texture tile and crop my texture after the baking. (you can see this process on the wall for ex)

Sebcesoir: pourriez vous expliquer comment vous avez procédé pour les dunes de sables?

For the sand, i used multiple sand textures composed in photoshop to make them tile, then i used crazybump, to generate me a displace map from that texture. This technique only gives me a tilable base for my sculpt. I then apply this base on a zbrush plane, and resculpt it with wrap mode.

Superbe travail les boys, dommage que ça n'ait jamais été fini...

ps: le jeu a bel et bien été fini, il est même sorti sur steam, mais retiré par la suite car les serveurs sont morts suite a la disparition du studio

What the....? Are you kidding? Holy smokes, that is some intense work!! Thanks a million for sharing. And to think, more than half the time, were just running or driving past these type's of amazing enviroments, not putting much thought into the work it takes to make them (in video games). Kudos to you my friend, kudos to you-
