Default Alienboy movie-oh and playing with Sculptris 6

I have started using sculptris in connection with Zbrush to model characters for my upcoming movie.

    This is the first character.
His name is Max Savior. He is the adoptive grandparent of our main character, Alienboy.

He likes beer, beating folks up and sitting around in his tighty whities complaining about what old people complain about.

He is an old school retired government superhero/soldier. He is living on a pension. He is alone until one day Haloquin (an old colleague) brings him a special gift.

Please tell me what you think.

I descided to play a bit with Sculptris 6. I love this new tool! It is the bomb.

It helps me model my characters quickly. Of course I wish I could find someone who could sketch them out better than I can for the movie, but if not that is cool. Check this out.

    Default Re-good start...

but could you do us a favor, I noticed a lot of blank space that last image, could you crop it down in Photoshop or Paint.net and maybe resize your images down just a bit. Thank you.

I fixed it. Hope that is better.

I'm really looking for someone who can help me model these characters and do them better justice than I.

Here are better sketches of the characters.

they look simple enough, make them yourself..
use a toon shader.. either in the material sticky or there are some in the old Sculptris forum

search for the little program "foreground reference utility." that might help you out a bit as well.

remember you will need to retopo them before you animate them sculptris uses triangles.

other people can help, I just think you should give it a shot, i know you can do it.

    Thank you for your comments.
Unfortunately I think my talent has plateaud. I don't think I can capture the style that the artist drew my characters in. I mean I can get better but the fact is you will always reach your peak. I think I have reached that peak. I don't think it is bad but to make the movie I'd prefer a better hand on the characters.

    I can do everything else.
topo, texture, render, animate, direct, rig but modeling characters is not my talent. I'm okay but I think the characters deserve better.

Plateaued?, that only happens when an artist no longer sees room for
improvement and fails to acknowledge any criticisms of their work.
Basically they have grown stagnate and complacent with their art.

I just want to say that those sketches are adorable. I hope you do find someone to work with you on further development.

You can always get better but only slightly. You do reach a pinnacle at certain points in technical skill.

For example a Weight Lifting Champion can always get slightly stronger but eventually he will reach his limit. Otherwise you'd have people lifting 2 tons or more cause they could always get "better".

Same can go for art. You can always learn new tricks and condition your work better and better but then there is a point where natural talent has to take over as well and you can reach a limit.

I don't think it is stagnant. I think you simply work within the limits of your abilities. And within that stretch you can get better but again we do reach limits. I don't consider it stagnant if I'm always creating something. Plateau on the technical side but never on the creative side.

I'm more of a creator and storyteller than I am a modeler. I want to be able to tell my stories but not spend years to do what I do best. That is why I'm personally looking for at least a 3d sketch artist. I can retopo enough to animate and texture well enough to look good.

But then I find other tools to work around some of my abilities.

PS here is some of my earlier works.

    http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=aNQlO6TUrEI

I kind of want to make my characters look realistic but then have that odd funny shape and style as shown in my pictures.

Notice the video above does look semi realistic. I used MOCAP and did this in about an hour. I want the mocap to give it a real funny look as well.

would be nice for an artist to know a little more about the characters,
    how many fingers/claws..
    more references.. etc..
maybe some info about the characters abilities etc..
