    Default The Corpse Bride

    Hey guys, how is everybody? Just finished up my take on Victoria from The Corpse Bride. Henry Selick and Tim Burton are two of my favorite artists ever, so I thought I'd pay homage and try to recreate it with a little of my own style. This was my first time ever using Transpose Master and trying to lay out UVs, so I hope it doesn't look too wonky. Any critiques and comments would be much much appreciated, as I'm still learning! Thanks everybody

    @Sparky3d and michael milano thanks so much for the kind words guys

    Closeup of her face. I tried to make her look naturally pale, as if it wasn't makeup she's wearing but that is her normal skin tone. With a little subtle red and yellow to account for makeup. Any C&C on how to make the render in the first post look better, or more portfolio worthy? I'm not sure if it looks finalized or if it just looks like a study =/ thanks guys!

    I'm having an issue where if I have a texture map on any of my subtools, I can't apply a material to it, however if I turn the texture map off, the material will stay. Anybody experience this problem or have a solution to it?

    Nice work- dragons and monsters are fun and they may get people's attention on here, but they won't get you a job in the real world. This is great because it's instantly recognizable and works because you can tell if it's correct or not to the source material, and that's really important for snagging a job doing this stuff.

    I think I prefer the color in the first one- it's a little less expected for a winter scene. And it might be nice to give her more of a pose. Consider turning her body away just a little and turn her head to camera from there if you still want her head facing the viewer. Or maybe she's looking over her shoulder a bit? I think she's just a little too square to camera and symmetrical now.

    I love that last picture. As good as anything out there. It may not show sculpting mastery (as the shapes are simple) but it's a beautiful picture. I think it's really, really nice man. Don't let your art be driven by the need for attention (unless you are looking for work).

    It reminds me of Tim Burton's stuff. Keep it up! (edit: duh, it was supposed to!)

    Default New render

    Thank you guys kindly for all the nice words, it's much appreciated. I don't necessarily need the attention, but I am barely a beginner in this whole thing so all of the critiques really do help. And it seems like my thread got all of the amazingly talented creative folk

    @koshey thanks man!

    @Maxpower81 I took your advice and I think it really helps the composition a lot. Subtle, but she feels much less stiff. Your flat cap chap is really awesome btw, great expressive style.

    @tobbeo I really appreciate that. It's always worrisome trying to figure what is portfolio worthy or worrying about employers. Also, your horse piece is pretty damn awesome

    @lemonando thank you! I loved looking through your threads and seeing the real physical use of zbrush.

    New take, tried to blend her in a little more.
