    Default God of Torment

    Hello fellow ZBrush-ers,

I just finished my work on the latest Dominance War challenge.

Since I used ZBrush even more than I am used to, I thought it would be appropriate to display it here, and get your feedback/ critique.

Here are a few images, I will post some examples of my workflow tomorrow, and some more ZRenders.

    Thanks for looking!

The first image is a Matte painting projected on 3D geometry, rendered along with the game mesh, in Mental Ray. I have plans to create a slow camera zoom-in later on, for my demo.

I sculpted a basic lanscape in ZB to project the painting on. All the walking souls are coming from a character I sculpted, posed and deformed in ZBrush. I exported a bunch of medium-res versions in Maya in order to start painting on.

    Main Final image:

This is the game mesh, with no post processing, rendered in Marmoset:

And a few screenshots of some different states:

Awesome. The more I look at it the more I apreciate the design and small details. I like the creepy stuff myself.

Thank you all for the warm feedback. After such an intense journey, it is very welcomed to see that the end result is appreciated.

They just released the voting system. Go check out the CG Society entries, there is a lot of cool work in there.

I wish ZBrushCentral would have had a team . Maybe next time?

@ Piotr S***322;omowicz: Thank you, I am glad you think it is creepy.

@ salki: Thank you, same for you. I really like your entry too

@ sadicus: Thanks! This depth of field effect is the reason why I decided to go down the Matte painting route. I was also planning to add some Special FX (particles, etc..), but I ran out of time.

@ balage: Thanks! I didn't know about him. Shame on me. He is heading straight to my reference folder. "His work is known for its use of fantastic imagery to illustrate moral and religious concepts and narratives." That's funny because it is what underlies the God of Torment concept as well.

@ Energise: Thanks, glad it turned out right. It definitely was a lot of work

@ Clintus Maximus: Thank you very much. (I love your Apollo tagline.)

@ Etcher: "Creepy awesome" is about the best 2 word comment I could get on this
    Merci!

@ Conniekat8: Thank you very much, your comment is much appreciated.

I am still preparing some different render angle of my ZTool, I will probably update something here tonight.

    Thanks for looking!

I was able to get a few screengrabs of the ZTool. I got some angles that were not necessarily pointed out on the game mesh, and some closeups.

A few e-mailed me asking questions about creation process, ect... I will prepare something during the week and post it here when it is ready.

Just as an info on the sculpt, the ZTool stands at ~80 million polys and has something like 55 to 60 subtools. ZBrush performed like a charm, even when everything was displayed High-res. Life is great.

    Thanks again for looking!
