    Default Udasaurus

This one is a sculpt I did a long time ago but more recently decided to finish it off for my reel. The original concept is from Pete Jacksons King Kong. The Udasaur is one of the species of water based creatures living on Skull Island.

I had some people interested in some specifics of the workflow so I attached some wips. Basically I made a base in XSI sculpted it to a mid level detail then did the scales and high frequency stuff with HD sculpting. I also used the HD to polypaint, Its the first time I used the HD feature and right now I'm finding it a really powerful tool for painting and sculpting, and I'll definitely be using it for my next project. Final render in mental ray for Maya with SSS shader, final render size 4500 x 2543, render time 45 mins and Ztool polycount 11million. Any other questions I'd be glad to answer or drop me a mail.

    Cheers

    Dan

Awesome sculpt. I noticed that two of those alphas were ones I created and sent to Pixologic. Glad to see what killer results you can get with them. Great job man! Love it!

Looks brilliant! Awesome presentation of the model as well
May I ask why you did the low res model like you did, it seems very lowres for something like this.

    Faircat: Cheers man.
Locusta: Thanks man cheers for looking.
Mr max: Thankyou it's much appreciated. Keep rockin!
    Derek: Cool cheers man.
Mocthemagicman: Ah you made those they are nice man thanks for those I love them especially the last one for wrinkles. Also thanks for looking

Storm: cheers man I'll explain on this particular model I displaced that low res sculpt cage to around the lvl 5 model from zbrush so I didn't need to make another mesh for render. If it was for anim or needed to be rigged I would make another higher res mesh but for this one off image it didn't call for it.

Ministerart: Thanks man you are far too kind
Mohammed: Cheers man I will post some for you.
Alex: Yeah I will post you a link it's in the history of skull island art book
Cherub: Thanks for looking man it's been a while where did those beta days go hey

Fo0d: love your work bro thanks for looking here.
    Luis 2008: Thankyou for looking.

Thanks all plus nice to see some beta guys again take it easy guys
