Hehe, well.. you know what, I only drink ice-coffee now.
Regarding the mirrors.. hmm.. actually not a single one in my whole life as far as I remember.
Too bad I can`t say that as an excuse.

I can`t wait for the holidays and sounds like you`ll have nice holidays, too.
Nice is beautiful. I haven`t been there but some friends have been there about two years ago and I`ve seen lots of wonderful pics so don`t forget your camera.
And while we`re on the subject camera.. since I started with ZBrush I see the world in alphas and textures *LOL*
Especially when I forget my camera I see lots things and think damn.. I have to come back later..this would make a great texture.
I`m planing to buy a better camera with a macro.. but since they are a bit expensive I`ll have to wait a few months.
Hope everything`s alright. Talk to you soon and thanks a lot for the tip with the x-plode. I need to try that.

PS:Are you going to enter the contest over at cgcoach?

    haha good girl
hmmm.. what if you start breaking lots of mirrors instead? Then you might reverse the curse! :P
The camera is packed and ready along with the rest of the stuff!
Cool that your friends have been there. Did they mention any good places to visit?
haha yeah it is quite funny how you perceive the world as an artist.
I took LOTS of pictures in Paris last year. Especially the Notre Dame which is superbeautiful with gargoyles all over the roof. Too bad I dont own a real system camera, just a compact one
I have noo idea what a camera macro does hehe.
Hope to hear a lot about your vacation when you come back!

PS. Not this time, but me and Sinz were talking about maybe getting the old creature crew back together for the next challenge You up for it?

    Default Meget bra. Congrats!

    Jonas, hi!

    I am a Johnny-Come-Late to your thread.

*First of all, bravo and congrats. Artists like you are inspirations for neophytes like me.

*I am working on an 18th century soldier model and having huge issues with the cross-belts, waist belts and the hat straps.

*I see a lot of superbly done belt articles and straps on your soldier model. Would you be kind enough to post some tips on your workflow for belts and straps?

*I tried the masking curve brush. Not much luck there. So I am painstakingly building geometry for hatbands and straps using retopology method.

    Takk og hilsen,
    Fred

    Hi Frederic!

Sorry for the late reply, I have been traveling alot the last few weeks

Thanks a lot, glad you like my sculpting.

Do you have a thread here at zbc of your soldier?

For the belts and straps I usually extract them from the underlaying subtools in ZB. You might want to do some retopology afterwards if they are screwed up.

I also create some of them directly in maya by extruding a box along a cv-curve and then refining the strap in zb.

Both ways are good for different situations

After you are happy with the shape just go crazy with alphas or bumpmaps!

For easy things like hatbands and pants-belt the best way is usually to step down to the lowest subdiv level (if you have good topology) and just extract the strap/belt in zb. This way you´ll get a lowpoly belt that fits perfectly.

Hope my chattering was useful hehe :P

    Good luck!

    Hey guys!

Thought I´d share some progress on the Spetsnaz.

For the final render I will try and push it further by rendering it out in passes,

but I´d love to hear if you find something odd at this stage

Find the drag on the mask a little off but otherwise great work. Nice little touch of smoke.
