Proportions seem rather wide, especially the nose.
typically the face is 5 eyes wide, with one eye width between the eyes
the nose will vary a bit as well as other feature depending on ethnicity.
this may help http://www.artyfactory.com/portraits...f_a_head_1.htm
Not to say this is bad, good work! Keep going!
Bear in mind these are general guides, faces everywhere slide around so to speak. Plus are you doing minds eye or photo ref modeling? I get into super
trouble myself w/o ref.
also phi shows up everywhere so you could consider it as well depending
on what you are wanting to achieve, stupid nature all doing stuff and whatnot

Can we take the texture off? You have alot of structural issues to address first. Let's see it grey shaded so it can be better critiqued. One of the best things I learnt from my day job is paying close attention to the planes of the head. Best place to start.

Try and forget all the texturing for now, which I know is tough.
cheers,

dapharmer yes the nostril's are a tad wide hehe
Dman3d thank you for the crit, Yes the nostrils are a little on the wide side at the moment, Yes I am using photo reference at the min, and the chap has wide nostrils but I've made them a little too wide hehe
The eyes, I will re-measure them, thank you
lildragon Thank you for your crit alsothe image below is the grey mat as requested
, I've also turned off the fine detail for you.
I know the ears look bad at the min and the corner of the eyes stick out a little

In addition to the comments about the width of the nose, it seems like the back of the skull is a bit too small. You also need to look at the eye shapes and the placement of the bone structures of the face.
I was going to mention that if its photo based ref then a the ref plus your sculpt may help with crit, if the fellow has a unicorn horn too then any crits are sort of pointless, it is what it is![]()
sparky..
i did this quick in photoshop with a smudge brush.. you can accomplish the same with a large enough move brush on your model.. compare against yours for placement.. this should get you a little bit closer to realistic:
eyes moved inwards
nose narrowed and bottom moved up a bit
mouth moved up and curled at ends a bit

Hi Everyone, it's been a few months since I posted on here, well really it's been a few months since I touched any 3D package due family circumstances and now recovering depression. It was my graduation ceremony on Thursday just gone and that give me the boost I needed to put up my tablet and get back n to zbrush, and so today I've started a new character, as having this time off, I want to go back to basic which is practising the anatomy. so here below is what I started 2 hours and 30 mins ago, blocking out the muscles, obviously still a long way to go as he is only on sub div 3 at the min, if you can spot any errors or areas that need a tweak please let me know

Hey man its good to see the process you are making, but I would have to say that you need to look at silhouettes for this body. There is a lot of curvature in the muscles that are just blobs in your character right now. Mainly the legs and gluts. Always make sure that the forms are there first because it will bite you in the butt later. Also, the face needs a lot of work. If you can check out Ryan Kingslien, he is a great sculptor and artist. If you subscribe to his Zbrush workshops ( no fees or anything) you can get 2 hours of his class for free and in those 2 hours he does a face sculpt in a nice step by step process which is a great way to learn. I learned a lot from it. Keep up the good work and progress.
-Cheers
New Character
Hi everyoneThis is a WIP of my latest character and I'd would love some constructive crit
I have not detailed his hands and feet yet and his face has basic shapes at the minute,I'm going for realistic looking, I'm unsure what direction to take him at the minute as regards to clothing, but i'll decide that, when I'm finished with his body

Your making some great progress, but I think the only thing holding back this model is some of your muscle anatomy.
You have some groups looking a tad too large, thus in-turn throwing off the placement/look of the other surrounding muscles. For example, your torso is about a head too long. You can fix this by just enlarging the size of your head, or adjusting the overall torso...
Check out this thread: http://www.theartofanatomy.com/phpBB...60ecd8331c1560
It is from an old forum that has died years ago, but fortunately it is still up! It has threads for every section you can think of, along with artist doing detailed paint-overs and descriptions of WHY muscles/cartilage/skin forms and looks the way it does.
Hopefully this helps and good luck with further progress!
