    Default Wonderful World !

    Hi everybody !
It's been a while since my last post on Zbrush central , work at Blur pretty much fill all my 3D urges these days .

This picture was started last year while the BP oil spill was destroying the gulf of Mexico, i worked on it here and there in my spare time , when the news on TV made me sad enough to feel the need to create a meaningful image !

So here it is, one year later, Mexico's gulf is still in very bad shape, and the consequences of the spill will still be felt for years . I wanted to show how nature will adapt and evolve from all that , wich probably wont be the case of humans if we keep going in that direction ..

I hope you 'll have fun watching at this new wonderful world , and who knows , maybe it will inspire you to express your views of the events happening all around the globe !

    Thanks for watching!

    Default Cute..but sad...

I've got family down that way and it is still pretty sad, with the occasional swarms of baby fish washing up onshore. Never anything as adorable as the glow-worms there

Totally agree with you , that spill is a terrible catastrophy , and it's not going to get better soon sadly -_-
That's why i did this picture! i felt as an artist my 'duty' was to use my skills to communicate about this kind of important issues

Glow would suit better nuclear radiation from Japan, but I guess I looks cooler that way.

    @ Jose

Fukushima might be my next picture hehe
But that pic kind of represent ALL the crap we pour in the oceans , like all the chemical dispersant s they used on the oil etc .. there's even a small radioactive warning on the barrel if you look closely

Those friendly little chaps remind me of the non stinger-ey iridescent "comb jellies" I used to swim with....before Katrina and BP deposited a metric ton of things I wouldn't want to swim with anymore into the gulf.

    Default 100 % crop

Thanks for the comments guys !
The scene was rendered in 3DSmax with Mental ray in one pass + 3 or 4 masks.
Everything is 3D but the cloudy sky and smokes in the background.
Zbrush helped me to get some great details for this picture , as my aim was to make it look cool in 4K
Here are some 100% crops from the pic :
