Thanks a lot for the Top Row, and for all your comments!

tyrellcorp -> The flame was done in photoshop. I took some photos of fire and flames, mixed them so they looked like a fireball, and then I started playing with the colors, brightness, glows and so to get the final effect.

Monray -> It was rendered in Mental Ray. The hair was done in hair-farm. As there was almost only the tips of the hairs visible (and not the roots), what I did was to create a 2D helix in max, and playing with it's parameters and some bend modifiers, I started duplicating and placing them to create those curls. Once I had enough of them I converted them to a hairmesh, and played a bit more with the hair modifiers to get the final effect. But that was a special case, what I usually do is to isolate a scalp, and then model the hair using the hair mesh modifier.

macaco -> Gracies! Com et va?, que fa temps que no se per on pares.

INFINITE -> Thanks! Yes, I would obiously like to show the image everywhere, but being in the top row here will make it get much more attention than I ever imagined, so I can only be happy.

gingerrichd -> The body model was done back in 2009 I think, and while I tweaked a bit some parts, specially the head but also the hands, I could probably have spent more time on polishing it.

Why is hair still so difficult to do in this day and age?! This has to be the most convincing hair I have seen in 3D. Maybe this "Hair Farm" is the answer everyone has been waiting for?

hair farm is only good for MAX users, but i have to say this hair does look better than anything in Maya.

Nice illustration! Interesting composition. I like your attention to detail, like the fuzz on the hood.

    Default render

How big was your document/dimensions while working? It's a really nice render. Beautiful piece.
