    Question Demo Dissabilities

Is the Edit Object tool disabled in the demo? It's not working for me. Anything else disabled in the demo that i should know about?

You should be able to model using the demo without any difficulties. The demo only prevents you from importing OBJ and DXF files, and from saving your tools.

When you first draw a primitive on the canvas (a primitive is any tool that has "3D" at the end of its name -- like Sphere3D), you can enter Edit Mode by clicking the points polygon in the Transform palette.

In Edit>Draw mode (both the Edit button and the Draw button above it are active), you can add or remove depth by painting across the object. In Edit>Move mode (both the Edit and the Move button above it to the right are active), you can push and pull polygons around.

Switching to any other tool, changing layers, and a few other things will drop your object to the canvas as pixols. Once this has happened, you cannot model the object anymore -- although it does remain in your Tool palette. If this happens to you by accident, you can undo to remove the pixols from the canvas, then select it from the Tool palette, redraw it, and immediately go back into Edit mode.

Anything that does not have "3D" at the end of its name cannot be modeled in this manner. A good example is a tentacle created with the SnakeHookBrush. This kind of "object" never exists in a polygonal form, but rather is drawn from pixols that have already been snapshot or painted onto the canvas.

I just tried doing that to make a hand, and once I was done making it, the hand just dissapeared. Then ZBrush wouldnt let me create any objects. Any Idea what might be going on?

Check to make sure the hand isn't colored completely black. Make sure ZADD and MRGB are on, and that the two Draw Intensity sliders are set to 100.
