    Nice! Was this sword done only with ZBrush? And did you use alphas for making the detail ?
    Life is without undos, so don't apply booleans to it!

    This is my first completed zbrush project.
    The base mesh was created in Maya

    I used a lot of predefined alphas from the Zbrush library for the sculpts. mostly the circle and squares. a lot of the more extensive detail was made from custom alphas that I put together. The textures where polypainted and then retouched in photoshop. After generating a normal map from the highest subd level in Zbrush the completed render was produced in Maya.

    Caves in too much?

    should taper outward from the center of the spine?

    Maybe a little bit of smoothing would work that bad guy out.
    Did you use any reference images while sculpting the mesh?
    If no , then you should. There are worth useful when you want to get a clean result and right proportions, at least.
    P.S. It's Nemesis, "nemesis" was already taken so I had to improvise
