    Post The One Ring

Stonecutters image reminded me that I am supposed to be working on my Lord of the Ring series. An image with The One Ring was to be next, so I got started with the main subject.

The writing on the ring is only apparent when the ring is heated, so, I got to put this puppy in a fire. So far, I have not been happy with my fire results. Any tips?

    Thumbs up

    Nice one, Kaz!
What I did with my ring was to make the characters as 3D objects, and then plce them into the ring...I realize this doesn't answer your main question, but here's a thought...you might want to check out the glow brush to add the effect to your characters. As to fire, you might think about making an alpha for the flames, and apply a transparent texture to make the colour. (Pardon the spelling of 'color', but I'm a Canadian, and that's the British spelling!) Feel free to get in touch if you want me to explain further.

    Hey Thanks

Taking your advice about the glowbrush, I experimented a bit

    This was done by:
Placing the ring tool and applying a gold color and intensity metal material
    Taking a snapshot
    Tool Modifiers>Deformation>Inflate -.5
    Optimize Mesh
Apply a red color and Glow Material

So basically, the characters in the first ring cut deeper than the ring that was optimized, allowing the glow material to show through.

    Thats enough for tonight...
