I don't what I like more, your sketches or your sculptures! I think I'll go with the sketches! They are dynamic and fluent!

Very nice understanding of the characters structure. Keep doing the great job.
Unonymouz- Thanks, it was more fun and I learned a lot.
Eiad- Thanks, Gonna try and find a style that is less over the top.
This Wolf sketch is very rough, I spent more time welding vertices in Maya than in sculpting in Zbrush ( I started with the dog Ztool, which has some non connected and interpenetrating polygons, which annoy the **** out of me. Anyway I think it still looks a bit boring so I will need to play around a bit, and add a fury mane, sharp claws also. Not going for realistic at all, so no need to comment on that.![]()

Believe it or not this is a completely new sketch. I started with a new base mesh and my plan was to create a more cartoony model but ended up with something that looks a lot like what I did the first time. I still blame a lack of discipline and the addictive clay brush.![]()

I decided to tr out spotlight and threw a texture that came in this months 3D World on the head, I then used that uncharted skin material over the base material and did a BPR. This entire sketch was only a couple hours over 2 days. I am beginning to get a feel for Zbrush. I still need to learn more about hard surface sculpting, zspheres and rigging before I feel comfortable doing a comic book workflow.![]()

Here is a non-symmetric sketch, I am not really happy with this sketch especially considering the effort involved. Also you can really tell that a photo reference was not used, as there are problems with the muscles being flexed even though there is no or less weight on them. In addition there is simply problems with the anatomy in general that I am working to improve on.
To reiterate the main problem I had, was I had initially sculpted a t-pose I liked, but after posing I had to smooth it down and re-sculpt. Often I would find it still did not look right or was not dynamic, so I would have to smooth it back down and re-sculpt. Part of the problem could be my inexperience with Zbrush and anatomy in general. Regardless here it is.![]()

I decided it was time to study anatomy again. I still have a lot of work to do, but here is yet another fresh start. I will post the new female soon I hope. It is sort of amazing how you notice details as you continue to practice. Every time I think I have done a good job I come back a week later and I can only see the mistakes. I suppose that is the process, of getting better.![]()

This is a small update showing some recent work making a scifi spacesuit with for one of the models I am working on. This is the under suit and plan on adding armor over top.![]()

I mean, sculpting is going fine. But you need to take a closer look at your anatomy.
So.. Use photo ref more.. Or look at some anatomy plates
Keep up the work![]()
MJ- Thanks critique, I am only working from real photos now, and have ditched the idea of 3d models or comics as reference for now (maybe for inspiration).
Cloudrider
As inspiration it can be superb. But where you are now, I would stick to real life ref. Until you get more comfortable working with the anatomy.
I recommend looking at some of Gotfried Bammes stuff, he has some good books![]()
Recent work, just my first pass, after I took this renders I noticed the shoulders needed to be more smooth and rounded, etc.![]()
I have also included the photo reference for comparison.![]()

I wanna give you some criticism and see where you go from there.
Hes Pectoral major to his Deltoids is a too sharp transition smooth it out to a flowing skin.
His trapezius is a bit more sharper in the reference, shows a bit more edge to it.
And after that break the symmetry in your mode up the veins and the muscle shape, flow.
My word is my honor my honor is my life..
Thanks Converse for the Crit, I spent a few more hours trying to make those adjustments. I am still not completely satisfied with the form, but I will keep trying.![]()

A less shiny version.![]()
