I agree. I love seeing how other people work as well .

On that note, I have created a similar tutorial to what Ryan K had with the stitches. I made it for the sake of completion of my character here, and to bridge the gap between part 1 and 2. it does use Photoshop a lot, which is why I left it out of part 1. I wanted Part 1 to be focused on ZBrush only..

So, the Video is finished, but I won't be around for the next two days, so it will have to wait

it is free, and lasts 40 minutes, as I go over the shirt, belt, and mock up the stitch texture.

I do expect the user to have some photoshop knowledge.

    cheers.

Great stuff Martin! Thanks for sharing the time-lapse and may I say, I think it's one of your best sculpts to date! It's been excellent to see your progress over the years and thanks for helping so many new 3d artists on their chosen path!

Hi, awesome time-laps video Martin. I bought it from that site but the download link it provides isn't working. I just get a blank white page with the odd text "Could not open file."

edit: Got an email reply from them, never mind.

Just watched the introduction video. I'm very much excited about all of the topics you will be hitting. Topology for film/TV/Videogames very cool! I'm a Zbrush newbie so this will be invaluable. You have a very clear tutorial voice.

    Thanks!

Just purchased/downloaded this. Is there supposed to be some kind of menu/navigation?
I see some swf's and a "pop.html" (which comes up blank) I've allowed activex content for it but its not working.

    What am I doing wrong?

That is just the internal player.

If you go back out one folder, ( to the first files you should have seen ) there is a start me file. Or something along those lines.

If you need to though, you can always just go to the images folder, and view the movie files. The introduction video explains everything.

    Hope that helps.

No such file/folder. And sure, I can always just go to the videos directly. It's just that someone spent the time to build a menu system and it does not work. I tried downloading the .zip version to see if it was the rars that were missing that file and there is no menu system files in that one at all, lol.

So. we'll just skip that and use the videos directly and call it a day.

    i guess that will work.

that is annoying for me though because now the intro video is inconsistent with the content. I had to edit something out and repackage two of the videos, but it turns out that jim rezipped the files wrong after i gave it to him....

what I will do is just include the interface as a separate zip file and a video of how to drag and drop the stuff for everything to work.

( It looks better if you go into full screen mode, or to vimeo.com )

New free chapter available ( 40 minutes ). This chapter deals with using Photoshop and ZBrush together to create stitch alphas, and some other stuff.
It's the same approach to what Ryan K uses for his stitches video. I mostly made it for completion sake of my own video.

    Cheers

I might do one more free video, and then the rest will be inside my Texturing Video set.

I have decided that the Texturing and Retopology/ Map extraction video sets will be separate. It will make it a lot easier for me to finish and manage. 34_Stitches.jpg

It would be free though.

On another matter, I made a free Weaving video tutorial that goes from a 3d software, to zbrush and photoshop. It's mostly for the reason to create Weaving alphas for Zbrush, or for displacement/bump. It's 40 minutes long.

I did start in houdini, and do the 3d modelling part there, but any 3d software will do, as long as you can use instancing.

Cheers So yeah, tell me what you think

hey ambient-whisper great job enjoyed watching how you sculpted this mouse character and came to fully worked and realized character concept.. its always a pleasure to see how you work and sculpt forms and the different tools you use in the process of developing a concept starting with quick sketch all the way up to using zsphere adaptive skin and reworking the surface with the different brushes. thanks again for posting the time lapse, despite i have been part of this community for a long time its always nice to see how other people work in zbrush. as for doing another video i would love to see maybe some hard surface workflow from you with the new hard-surface brushes or maybe one that shows how you used some of the more advanced features of zbrush like a advanced tips and tricks video but yeah i think that would be cool to see how you tackle hard-surface work now that we have a lot of options available..

thanks again Martin for showing the workflow in which you use zbrush4 for developing this mouse concept .. i always look forward to seeing your time lapse videos with every new release of zbrush and seeing how you implement any new features that were added...

look forward to seeing your new sculpts and sketches in the near future..

    HI Martin,
Do you know if Jim fixed the rezipped issue? Look forward to getting the training, but no problem to wait for this to be resolved.

I will find out, but from what I know, when you purchase the video it will give you all the videos and the missing files + a video on how to fix it.

it really is as simple as dragging the entire video set into a new folder, and make sure that the missing files are outside that folder. The slideshow interface will work then.

In any event, I will email him about it.

    cheers.

    Hi Martin,
    That sounds easy enough.
I watched the time lapse, pretty cool!
    Downloading the purchased copy now.
    Look forward to Part 2.
    Thanks,
    Bill
