Mealea..HEY....
Those last few pieces on the previous page in here are outstanding...The ones with the female faces...Really beautiful works..Great design and use of space......It's a real pleasure seeing the amazing progress that you've shown in this thread..Keep on Truckin...
Glenn
Thanks Glenn!!!
You actually taught me a lot about how to do those, I took the old paintings you
recommended and looked at them for a LONG time and I think I'm starting to
understand why they are exceptional.
GRIN!

Blue, if you are reading along the last couple of posts you will know that ZBC is
not working right and allowing me to post the tutorial Im making for you, so I
will post it else where as an html document.
Give me a bit, I need to come up with hosting of some sort and I think I
know just the place.

Ok....
Blue, try this:
https://dl.dropbox.com/u/76310757/Blue/BlueFerret.html
The video is still uploading and I will edit the page when its done and
see if I can embed it, its been a long time and the HTML "standard" is
now so full of bloat its appaling.
ok....
Video is 133mb and is uploaded at:
https://dl.dropbox.com/u/76310757/Bl...ircleThing.mov
And I'm off to figure out how to embed it.
Let me know if you have any problems with it ok?
Im not sending it to Vmio or YouTube, they mess with videos and compress them so much you cant see the menu's and stuff, this is the full sized one so it SHOULD be good.... I hope.....
Cheers!

I found a fun little utility that sort of plugs into your web browser and does some fun stuff to pictures, its at:

I was going to post examples but they are all a little over 500k so Im not going to bother.

Wow That is some video...
I surely do appreciate all the work you put into this Tutorial.
I have a much better idea now on how to get started with 2.5d.
Watching the video made me realize how different everyones talent is and I just kept going wow every couple of minutes..
I played the video as you suggested, frame by frame and after a while I started to understand the actions of different brushes and sub tools..
The HTML was a big help also. One of my probs has always been when I import a subtool I seem to loose all the other ones, very frustrating.
To make the video better, maybe audio narration as you work would be my only suggestion. And maybe a larger cursor as its kind of hard to see,
but I'm only telling you this since you asked me to. Personally I am very happy with the tutorial and am deeply appreciative.....!!
I owe you big time and thanks again..
I hope other people will download this this video as it is well worth any ones time that wants to learn more about 2.5d and how to in corporate
it into their 3d work...

GRIN!
Sorry its small, but you did look at it frame by frame right? I could make a bigger one, like full size I think but I would have to wait till my next billing cycle as my internet connection is rather obnoxious and I am teetering at the edge of my quota, things are not cheap here.
As far as sound goes I have no microphone and my video editing software sucks.
I agree completely about the problems you mentioned but at least its the raw video, YouTube and others of their ilk destroy stuff with horrible compression.
One of the things you should try is very simple, open an object like that one you made called Relic and set your brush stroke to Dots and scribble for a bit.
What you said about subtools is interesting, Im not using any in this video for the most part, and what does have them I merge into one object.
However Subtools are a pain in the neck and to be clear are they causing other tools to vanish in the Tool Pallet or the SubTool Pallet?
If it is the Tool Pallet while opening or importing them, I have that as well (not always, 4R3 helped a LOT) and it drives me crazy, but all you have to do is this:
Load the tool and immediately hit the clone button, ZBrush seems to like dumping things that were just opened.
If the problem is in the Subtool pallet I'm not sure what to say other than to make sure all those stupid eye icons are on (clicking one tool or eye flips the others on and off for no good reason, its enraging, but is actually considered a feature) and that when you are using things with subtools as 2.5D brushes that they are merged into one mesh, other wise they will go crazy. The head I used in the video is a good example of that, her eyes are subtools and when I draw, or after drawing try to move the head the eyes move independently as they have their own "center" in relation to the ZBrush canvas, to fix this draw whole thing to the canvas, hit EDIT, and in the subtool pallet select the top object and hit Merge Down in the SubTool Pallet over and over till I have one object, then, just to keep things sane I hit the unify button in the Deformation Pallet to recenter and size the object to the middle of the ZBrush world. Once that's done I have a useful tool in the Tool Pallet and turn off EDIT and clear the object and redraw it, usually there is stuff on the canvas at that point so I use undo to get rid of it, if there is nothing on the canvas I can use Control N which I think works better, provoking ZBrush with UNDO is not wise.
The last thing you mentioned is incorporating 2.5D stuff into 3D work and that is where things get wild and VERY VERY cool. But that is coming up in the next tutorial I'm making... or maybe the one after that, I'm having some trouble keeping my self organized as I have a lot less time to do stuff lately and I am very tired.
Now..... I noticed that I did something stupid and for got to upload or even include the images resulting from making the video, all I can say about that is lack of sleep makes people weird and in my case stupid.
So...
Here are two of them:

I always love the 2,5D works , but there's too few of them. Happy to see some new ones
And I will look onj the tutorial you posted, because I wan't to know the 2,5D mode better.
Thanks man! I subscribe for your thred
Also you mentioned about problem with large pictures. Try this, magic:

Thank you Nebular!
And also thanks for JpegMini, its very cool and does a lot better job then I was able to do with other things.
Im still working on that tutorial, I think its mnore than a bit rough and there is a LOT more to add to it.
The video however is about all I can do at the moment with out making something that costs to much to upload.
Anyhow, thanks again!
Cheers!

Thank you Blue!!!!
I love that image!
That is a very sweet thing to do and I don't know how to thank you enough (other then to keep working on the next bits of that tutorial).
So NO taking it down! hehehe!
I am still working on the next bit of the tutorial and I will be doing some edits I think to the first one to clear some things up a bit.
The next part is proving interesting, its got stuff that is hard to explain and sort of needs to be felt I guess is the right word.
What I mean by "felt" is that while drawing in 2.5D you will find that there is a strange lensing (Spelling?) effect in the direction of Z where things sort of get odd at higher depths. There is more to it then that but that's one of the hard parts, also the three hundred and sixtieth degree is missing and causes a weird wrapping or twist in brushes, very hard also to describe, it just needs to be experienced and I will be showing how that works and what it causes both good and bad.
The next one will also have a couple of larger (I think) videos where I use record instead of time-lapse, I think that will help...
Thank you again Blue!
Cheers!

While I go nuts with all the new stuff in ZBrush, I cant believe how much fun this stuff is!
