    Default Distractions....... and lots of them

    Random things.....

    Learning about the extract tool, I like this tool a LOT.
    I learned a lot from this thread:
    http://www.zbrushcentral.com/showthr...k-hard-surface
    THANK YOU Gwainbarek!!!!!!!!

    Extract and Group Loop, Group Loop is awesome!

    TopMod, I am getting a serious education from this program, this one is just fun:

    TopMod again, more of the educational stuff:

    TopMod, 100% learning project, 1/2 hour to learn, import and render.
    It is possible to make buildings so complex its astonishing, this is a
    simple example because as things get more complex they crash
    more. blah....

    Weird 2.5D rendering errors in 4.R2, things go sort of strange after
    a while, in this case I liked how my crash, if that is what it was,
    looked so I saved it. In this instance the object in the center (the ball thing)
    somehow went transparent, something I have wanted to do for a while but
    have been unable to manage. This time it happened by accident and I have
    been unable to replicate the effect:

    I have been reading a lot in my spare time and one of the more interesting bits
    of stuff I have found is this:
    http://www.viz.tamu.edu/faculty/ergu...gy/papers.html

    Learning stuff about topology on ZBC has taught me all sorts of neat things, one
    of which is that keeping polygon counts down is not just a good idea if you want to
    make mammoth stuff (I do) but its also an art form in it self.

    Making weird stuff with weirder stuff....

    A base mesh (from TopMod):

    A bit of progress:

    And a bit more progress:

    This is I think the most subtools I have ever used.... its getting amusing, a few of them have a LOT of polygons, and I'm well over 10 million at this point.
    Maybe its time to start playing with color and materials and stuff....
    Or not!
    More more more!

    Mealea..Beautiful experiments ..really...

    That one with the grey, red, and white colors..The sphere shaped one posted above..Reminds me of a Navajo piece of pottery..Outstanding look you have achieved with your experiments..Keep Exploring..Can't wait to see what you discover next..

    @Spirit Dreamer:

    Thank you, that was sort of the idea with that, it was also for turning into a 2.5D
    brush which is what the video below is of (its horrible).

    I used a lot of stuff that is new to me like that Xpose thingy, which I love, it is
    inspiring me to make as many subtools as possible just so I can hit the Xpose
    button.... its a LOT of fun! This is a very poor example of Zbrush video but I tried
    out some new things and learned quite a bit.
    If all goes well the next video(s) will be a complete project and will even have a
    sound track. I will have to find something other then vimeo, they are far to limited
    for what I want to do.

    Default ArtRage and ZAppLink

    I have this wonderful program called ArtRage Studio Pro, its basically a very cool paint program and its a LOT of fun.
    Since I haven't got Photoshop I decided to try using it with ZAppLink and after some (lots) screwing about I got it
    working, The things Zbrush is able to do amazing.

    If you have ArtRage, set up ZappLink to send stuff to it, that part should be in the ZAppLink instructions.

    Once you have sent your image over to ArtRage and have edited it you need to export (not save) the resulting
    document to your ZApplink directory and overwrite a file called:
    TempZAppLinkExport.psd
    Then switch back to ZBrush and pick your object back up.

    This is a very quick description, if anyone is interested I will do a complete tutorial, its a fantastic plugin and the
    fact that it works with ArtRage is delightful.

    Here is a VERY quick example:

    Michalis and a few other people here who do somewhat more classical looking sculpts
    have been causing me to stick with trying to get better at a few things, most notably
    trying to make things that look like they actually exist. I suck at this but its great
    fun and when ever I get frustrated I go and look at their work and I'm motivated again.

    Michalis and almost everyone else have been doing cool things with dynamesh
    and while I have been having a lot of trouble with it causing crashes and making
    weird meshes I am getting used to it and getting in the habit of looking at the
    whole model every time I remesh so I dont end up with a million unplugable holes,
    I hate having to pay attention to things like this but its starting to pay off and
    in ways I was not expecting.
    Its surprisingly fun to have a nice glass of rum and just play till something neat
    happens, this is how this came about, its not good but I didn't know how to make
    it yesterday and now I do.

    @Mealea

    Your so crazy - man -
    but i like the way you do -
    always Surprise and WoW -
    this is really a crazy way
    you use Sculpris, Artrage , Jenn , TopMod and many other Progs to explore the Universe of Art
    and YES - in my Eyes - this is Art ....what you doing

    Do you Know Sculpture Generator (Download Sculptgen.zip )

    Makes stl-files and then with Nettfab to obj..... -

    and go on to sculptris

    Structure Synth
    Obj Export - runs in 32 Bit
    ( maybe in 64 you must try)

    there allways been new Ways to explore.
    Thats fun and inspiration - Go on

    hehehehe! I'm having so much FUN!!!!!

    @Betamax:
    Thank you!!! Judging by your name you try other things as well, also I love your Fink!
    When I was little a friend made me a model (plastic) of Rat Fink driving a hot rod, I still
    have it, its insane and very fun.

    I have no aptitude for programing or scripting but this stuff is seriously fun.
    From the looks of things I think that with time I will be able to program
    or "grow" plants and trees, generate cities and landscapes and all sorts of
    weird stuff.
    This one makes sort of a patch of grass or trees depending on how you
    look at it, its also coming out sideways and I dont know why yet but
    I will figure it out.

    set maxobjects 16000 4 * { y 11 } 5 * { z 12 } 8 * { x 3 } 1 * { a 0.8 sat 0.9 } R2 set background #fff
    R2
    rule R2 {
    { x -1 rz 5 ry -6 rx -2 s 0.99 blend green 0.01 } R2
    { s 2 } sphere
    }
    rule R2 {
    { x 1 rz 1 ry 6 rx -2 s 0.99 blend green 0.08 } R2
    { s 2 } sphere
    }
    rule R2 {
    { x -2 rz -5 ry 6 rx 2 s 0.99 blend green 0.22 } R2
    { s 2 } sphere
    }
    rule R2 {
    { x -2 rz 1 ry -6 rx -2 s 0.99 blend green 0.44 } R2
    { s 2 } sphere
    }
    nope...

    That OTHER site is annoying as hell.... I got the same thing at first.
    Here is the real link:
    http://www.viz.tamu.edu/faculty/ergu...arch/topology/

    It takes some getting used to and crashes sometimes
    (somewhat often till you get used to it). Everytime I use it I learn
    something new, Im starting to use holes and handles now and I'm
    amazed at what is possible.
    Things like TopMod and Structure Synth are teaching me ways
    of looking at stuff that I never would have thought of otherwise,
    I am thinking of having a look at Zbrush scripting to see if it
    could be adapted to procedural modeling so we could do things
    like grow fractal Zsphere trees and stuff.
    I think I will have to talk to Marcus about that.
    GRIN!
    He will be thrilled: MORE WORK!

    Thank you again for your tutorials, they caused a huge leap
    forward in what I can make and its tremendously fun.
    If you have any issues with TopMod please feel free to ask,
    I dont know everything it can do yet but Im getting there.

    Cheers!
