ZScript: Update to MapIt, v1.4
This is a modest update to the old MapIt script which should make the tool easier and more fun to use. Once you start the script, click the MapIt logo to bring up the help notes.
The main improvement is under the TILE button. Now, when you make changes in the horizontal and vertical symmetry, the repeat pattern updates immediately. You also have a new menu option to make the current alpha into the current texture. (There are plenty of neat alpha images that make nice repeat patterns.)
Once you are satisfied with the repeating texture layout, you can then generate a new repeating TEXTURE or a new repeating ALPHA or BOTH. As soon as the new texture and/or alpha are created they're applied to the current model... automatically.
Also, I've fixed several annoying bugs that slipped by in the original version.
INSTALLATION:
The MapIt_1-4.zip file contains all the files you need to install the new version. To install, do the following:
Unzip into the ZStartup\Zplugs directory.
In the Zplugs folder you will find MapItLaunch.zsc and a new folder named MapIt which will contain all of the necessary files for running MapIt. (Users of ZLauncher can find the MapIt.zsc file and MapIt.psd, the icon for ZLauncher).
TO USE:
Next, restart ZBrush. Look in the ZPlugin menu and you'll find a sub-group named PSNAP. Under PSNAP you'll see a button named MapIt. This launches the MapIt utility.
If you want, you can Ctrl-drag this button to a place on your ZBrush interface. Press Ctrl+Shift+I to make the MapIt button a permanent part of your custom interface. Now, whenever you want to create a tiling texture map or alpha map, load a model and texture and click on the MapIt button.
These files will be installed from the MapIt_1-4.zip file:
