Second - detailed - render of your spaceship is very good. I always admire people who undertake modelling hard surfaces in an organic modelling app - it takes lot more patience. I'm not sure as for the practicality of it but it looks great.

It really is not an easy thing to do. Modeling hard surfaces. I think your ship came out rather well. This last one you have done has possibilities. I think I like the samurai the best.
Yes, for doing something like a hard-surface robot, I would use Sculptris just build out the basic shapes. Then do a simple retopo Wings3d to Blender (Shrinkwrap), Then back to Wings3d to get into the details. You can get more detail for stuff like this using geometry tools, Extrude, Bevel, Slide, Bend. Then UV-map and take it back to Sculptris to Paint .....
