Wow Etcher!
great video, you are the Master of PaintStop!
my congratz
Etcher thanks for the videos on using the stencil in PaintStop. Really put some sunshine on how to do it - I had to put on my shades to tone it down some ;) Great intro.
Questions:
Do you know if you can delete the tracing layer and then bring in another image to use to make a stencil from. I am thinking if it can be done we could use multiple image for stencils to create scences with. My first try seems to not work.
Your videos look so pro like are you using Quick Time Pro or some other app. And are you editing them in another app or just saving them from ZBrush as a movie or saving from ZBrush as a Quick Time movie. Are you using an HD codex?
:)
Etcher wow and thanks again mate.I didnt realise stencils worked with paintstop or could be used so effectively.Im always learning when I visit your threads. Thanks so much for sharing .

Renderdemon: you’re welcome, and thank you very much for dropping me a line! Hey man! I hope you’ll add the new PaintStop pics you made to your –already awesome- thread. I’m looking forward to your next!
Burchigb: I you you can put the info to some use when you have more time! Looking forward to see what you come up with! Thanks for letting me know.
Yona: thank you man! I love this stencil thing because it’s so straightforward and simple (no fancy whistles and bells/effects), really puts the emphasis on concepting, I think you’ll love it! Looking forward to see what you do with it!
Moni_poroni:thank you Monja, I hope (but I doubt) they still can be of some use to you! Looking forward to your new stuff / Humpatiki/retopo updates!
Cherea: thanks so much, but now, after mastering the soft to some degree, let’s see if I can use it to come up with some decent images…
Spaceman:thanks man!
On your questions:
Quote:” Do you know if you can delete the tracing layer and then bring in another image to use to make a stencil from. I am thinking if it can be done we could use multiple image for stencils to create scences with. My first try seems to not work.”
Try this:
1. select sheet two-> Tracing-> Load Image -> Merge with Canvas -> Masking -> Layer to Stencil.
2. Select sheet one -> Stencil On -> Press Spacebar to activate Coin Operator and scale/rotate/reposition ->rub it down onto the sheet.
3. Select sheet 3 -> Tracing-> Load Image -> Merge with Canvas -> Masking -> Layer to Stencil.
4. Select sheet one -> Stencil On -> Press Spacebar to activate Coin Operator and scale/rotate/reposition ->rub it down onto the sheet.
At this point, you have combined two images, you can now choose: use the above method again to add more images to the first sheet, or convert the first sheet to a stencil; if you do, this new stencil will have all your combined images in it!
Let it sink in, try it out and drop me a line if you have more questions on the stencil, you need to master it, it’s a core function!

I made the start and end titles with Premiere, before it bailed out on me (old 6.5 won’t work on my new Vista…) So now, I’m editing these new ones with Quicktime Pro which is very crude and limited, but at least lets me save out with a proper codec (I’m using the h.264) and with YouTube HD resolution (1280 x 720). Meanwhile, I’m saving up to upgrade my Premiere… .(I capture my screen with Camtasia).
CalumZb: hey Cal, thank you very much, again! Yes Cal, you need to take the time to test out the stencil functionality if you plan on using PaintStop for concepting, I think it’s a core functionality, please spend some time with it, you won’t regret it! I you have any questions, drop me a line, I’ll be glad to help!
Having HUGE troubles accessing ZBC to post new images and comments, this has been going on for a week or so -makes it nearly impossible to post- anyways, let's give it another try... :( .

Great art.
Hey Etcher!
I haven't had the chance to peek at your work the last 2 months or so (have been extremely busy with schoolwork). But I had such an awesome time snooping through your latest creations!
Really inspiring :)
~ Fox
Thank You for the multiple images walk through. :tu:
Not only is your work excellent and your video tuts excellent you are a PaintStop Pro
I had some time trying to figure out page three then I noticed the layers at the top (I had under edeit / preferences checked "don't hide ZBrush menus") so I clicked on it and and on the base layer and cleared it then repeated step 1 then went to step 2 then went back to layers and cleared base layer then repeated step 1 then went to step 2. Then when done merge to canvas and ready to paint.
Etcher, you've got style man awesome. :D
So cool to see how you mastered the stencils. And great presentation! :tu:
