Beta testers who aren't being paid to test the software, just take advantage of using the latest and greatest software and find there own little workarounds for the glitches and bugs. Most unpaid beta testers are reluctant to point out little glitches or bugs.
But, when a release date is set. The bug reports come in like an avalanche. The beta testers become afraid that the software is actually going to be released in a somewhat broken state.
I know a lot of people are going to want to throw pixologic under the bus for failing to make the release date. But from my experience I'm really leaning towards blaming the beta testers. But it is possible that, something just came up at the last moment....
