Guys I am seriously overwhelmed by all the extremely kind comments. I'd love to answer each and everyone individually but the 'thank you' variations become really repetitive now and I suppose I better use the time and get the render breakdown done to show my appreciation. expect it today or latest tomorrow.
Congrats! I really like the "Little Old Boy" ... tnx for the choice, Julian. :)
truely insane..!!!
great stuff man.
is that mona lisa in the background?
also how did you get that "soft" t-shirt texture, it looks fab..
Hey man, great work ! Congrats on the top row. ;)
oooow! A render breakdown would be great! :DQuote:

Awesome work! Well deserved top row:)
Personally I think you should have had TR a long time ago for the Progeria piece. About damn time.
Your work is Pimp.

Ok, Here's my promised proper sign of gratitude for all your kind comments.
the sheet which shows the exact settings I used for the 'one shot' instant renders in this post, plus the shader and the lights I used for it to download.
keep in mind though, no matter how effective any shader and render setup is, you always have to adjust it to your specific needs. what looks great in one combination of light, camera angle, model, texture, shader, resolution etc... might look quite different in another situation.
the shader isn't a big deal, you can get the same rim-light effect by adjusting whatever shaders you might already prefer to use, if you copy the settings I pointed out.
Thanks again everybody, I really mean it and hope the settings and shader are useful.
w, thank you so much for taking the time to do this Julian. Much appreciated.
