Hi..!
I just viewed a couple of Zbrush galleries and I am wondering if you also are good drawers..
Is there a connection between your drawing skills and 3d work??
Cheers,
Reinier :p null (http://null)

Is Zbrush actual 3D or just a simulation? just installed it and it looks like a weird photoshop plugin.. But the results I saw in the gallerie section at the site looked like real 3D images.. So if it is a 3D engine then how can I change the camera view?
Sorry for the questions but its all very weird and new for me..
Cheers,
Reinier :)

A good thread on the nature of ZBrush pixols can be found here:
http://www.pixolator.com/zbc-bin/ultimatebb.cgi?ubb=get_topic&f=1&t=013024
I tried explaining it myself, but what came out was a bunch of gibberish, so I think this thread would be clearer. :)
So a ZBrush document isn't entirely 3d and it's not entirely 2D either. A lot of people refer to it as 2 1/2 D.
ZBrush is a paint program powered by a real-time rendering engine. This means that it sports elements of both types of packages. For example, you cannot move your camera around a scene (just like a paint program), but you can sculpt a model in full 3D (just like an animation package).
This allows ZBrush to do things that neither type of program can do on its own. It also allows ZBrush to enhance the work that you can do in either type of program. In short, it is a great standalone program, as well as being a great tool to use in conjunction with your work in other software. And the bottom line is speed: ZBrush will as a rule let you accomplish your task much faster, which in turn means more productivity (and hopefully, more money! :))
As for being good drawers, well I think that everyone has different skill levels in that respect. Southern, for example, is a great drawer. I'm horrible. But the beauty of ZBrush is that you don't have to be great or even good at drawing to still do great work.

Hi Reinier
Welcome aboard!
Zbrush is a program of painting for sculptors and a program of sculpting for painters :D
In each case you take a funny time to use it!
Real time sculpting!
Real time painting on 3D volume
And classical way of 2D if you want :)
Have happy Zbrushing!
