Conch Bay (Fictional)

Yesterday, I heard that in the Bahamas where Conch is supposed to be the national dish, the supply of locally available Conch has been so over caught that they now have to import this item to satisfy the local demand.
This is a modification of a previous image, showing harvested Conch on land while Conch of various sizes can be seen in the shallows near by.
The original idea for these images came from an article in a local magazine, when researching StoneCutters request. The Conch is from a photo taken at a local Conch Shell dealer. Sad commentary though.

The conch in the shallows is striking.

The three in the lower lefthand corner "plant" the whole scene.

Thank you everyone. Jaundel I just visited that site and sadly what is said there is quite true.
I am Chairman of the Cayman Islands Diversification Committee and we are planning a trip to several Aquaculture projects in the States within this month. We are going with an open mind hoping to see what projects can be adapted to local conditions, bearing in mind that a profit has to be made. So far Hydroponics on a small scale has been successful, also Talapia, and we have the worlds only GreenSea Turtle Farm. What has failed in the past has been the farming of Prawns. However that was a case of not listening to local knowledge.
I will keep you informed on my findings when I return from this trip.

This is an original idea DeeVee. I see it as the ones in the water represent the fading chonch shells from existance.. and the ones in the foreground on the rocks represents the discarded shells by an unthinking society of today.. but then again that's just my take on it.. Very thought provoking piece!
