View Full Version : head 2
The highest compliment has already been paid me.
The subjects family recognized it immediately and wanted to know what I had done to the photograph.
A note on any heads I ever post.
If there is anything worthwhile it is due to the work and tutorials of Mr's Harris and Komar. I have responsibility for the rest.

As the subject said.
Where's my Hair.
Ticky ticky.
I drew the line at the three piece suit.
I don't get out as much as I used to. http://www2.zbrushcentral.com/uploaded_from_zbc/200311/user_image-1070163056fgm.jpg

VERY NICE COMPLIMENT FROM THE FAMILY INDEED :D
Now, not having seen that picture (wink wink), and having read the other 121, which I agree with, I have to point out something the others have not.
You don't have eye lids, but they are hell to master and get...but what you did accomplish from my point of view, is you captured the soul with the eyes. It is the, I cannot think of the right word because happiness does not cover it, but the best word that covers it is a dreaminess about the eyes.
The ears are off a bit. Ears, if you feel your face (or his if you want to) are at the eye brow (ridge) level (that is the very high point of the ears), and usually the lobe is at the mouth, or jaw bone level. But you did a finer job then I can at this point on ears (I do love hair for that reason :D)
And the hair definitely added much more character to him. Distinguished, yet when ya get out of those 3 piece suits ya look so much better, and look more relaxed. But yes, I can imagine this fellow in a suit.
Nice Post, very nice (now I have to conquer the hair)
Many Blessings

Very nice first and second post...
I agree with Kitty on the eyelids..One of the easiest ways to make eyelids..is to select a sphere, open tools>modifiers>initialize and play with the coverage slider, and to make the lid a bit roughed up and not so smooth, you can go into the Deformations pallette and choose the Noise slider and play with those numbers...it will make it look a bit less Barbie Doll smooth eyelidded :) or you can always just paint roughness onto the lids with various alphas.
A little hair script
headHair1.TXT (http://www2.zbrushcentral.com/uploaded_from_zbc/200311/user_file-1070208458zja.txt)
I bake the image/layer the head is on, that I will be adding the hair to...and when you paint be sure you have RGB only selected, because you dont really want a material for hair, but color instead....I think this script shows all that...anyhoo..have fun and keep up the good work...It is going to be enjoyable watching your progress as you learn the Z. :tu: :tu: :tu:
Thank you all.Wish to elaborate a little.
I was so ecstatic to finally model a head that looked like the subject, I rushed to get it here too soon.
Second, Kitty, you will appreciate this because it touches on our discussion of criticism.
The person that this photograph was based on let me photgraph him for an experiment some months ago. Because my photographs sometimes turn up in the most unlikely places, I agreed I would ask his permission before using them( this should not have been a problem).I have been using his photo for the past few weeks for this work. To the point of nauseum, I might add.
I had intended to show the photos side by side with the model and ask for a 121.
Then we could have discussed the finer points.
When I mentioned what I had intended I was asked not to submit the photos.
Because of this I can't be like a little kid and go "So there".
I thank you all one again for kindness and help.
Fouad: I would never desert the banana people. For a long time, they were all I had.

@rtyer: stepanich is right: there is NOTHING that can/will improve the looks of ANY head then hair!!
Just to show what a bit of hair could do to your pic - well I took the freedom to take it, but just for the sake of this demonstration (deleted it afterwards). So if you don't mind:
the benefits of using just the right amount of hair>>>
