View Full Version : Zif Widget
"Zif" a zsphere, coined by Slosh seemed appropriate term for this widget.
:ex: UPDATE 11/23/02 Added Weld and Mirror :ex:
I also changed the layout of the buttons to make better use of space.

I decided to release this version of the Zsphere Widget without any of the Animation functions mainly because I found a little time to write a little tutorial which might help explain better some of its functions. Press the "?" button to run the tutorial.

Excellent ZScript Digits! It feels a bit like using Etch-A-Sketch. :)
It runs perfectly in the next Z version and the capability to build accurate 90-degrees structures is very effective, especially when combined with unified cubical skinning...

{awesome pix!}
Blocks look good! Thanks for sharing.
Just dinked together some more of my Zif Widget experiments, I am really enjoying playing with diffuse materials and lighting.

Take the Zif Widget for a spin and post your results on this page.

Digits, that looks cool. I may have missed something. What are these diffuse materials? I may be totally brain dead right now, but I don't recall them. Any help appreciated! :D :tu:
Hi D, got your PM
Perhaps someone will jump in here and explain it better, but with version 1.5 comes the capability of diffuse lighting. This is activated in the Light:Shadows pallete where you can modify the apreture and the number of Rays the renderer will use.
A number of people have contributed lighting setups and materials on the forum. Jaycephus in particuliar has generously donated
Snow, Ice, and other Winter Materials (http://www.pixolator.com/zbc-bin/ultimatebb.cgi?ubb=get_topic&f=1&t=008758)
and
PencilInkShader.zip (http://www2.zbrushcentral.com/zbc_uploads/user_file-1036316645nmw.zip)
which you can find buried in
Monday Night Challenge #2 (http://www.pixolator.com/zbc-bin/ultimatebb.cgi?ubb=get_topic&f=1&t=008837&p=4)
(Hope you don't mind me relinking it Jay)
and don't forget Jaycephus's Sketch material? (http://www.pixolator.com/zbc-bin/ultimatebb.cgi?ubb=get_topic&f=1&t=008132) thread!
Anyhoo, I hope that brings a little light :) on the subject

This link also discusses diffuse settings and material http://www.pixolator.com/zbc-bin/ultimatebb.cgi?ubb=get_topic&f=1&t=007963
Dave, you should pop into chat sometime. We often discuss things like this and you are more than welcome to pose a question.
Added Welding to the Zif Widget which allows you to attach the Root Node (called the Child) of a model to any Node of another model (called the Root) Welding 101 (http://www.cyber-webs.com/zbrush/scripts/zsphere_3.htm)
Zif_Widget.txt (http://www2.zbrushcentral.com/zbc_uploads/user_file-1038066044feq.txt)
Also added Mirror which will mirror your model pivoting around the Root Node. By selecting one or more of the axis and use of the ROT XYZ controls you can create symmetrical lattices easily.
Here are some examples of some of the doodahs I have made.
