Where can one get this material?

Fouad B.
02-05-04, 12:21 AM
you are welcome guys :)

hi Elvis, erf.. sorry.. King Salami :D
this shader can be find here Quad Shader (http://www2.zbrushcentral.com/zbc_uploads/user_file-1045224869nrn.zip) from Pixolator.

But I think you can obtain the same result with another shader. as you can see in the capture, just the S1 channel witch be handled, and nothing to do with light just material.
a tip to improve the result is playing with perspective option, try and see.

Hi Fouad B.

That is a really nice technique!

You're right about the QuadShader not being necessary. I have attached a zip file here containing Ink.ZMT (http://www2.zbrushcentral.com/uploaded_from_zbc/200402/user_file-1075970792cyv.zip), which I just created from the Colorizer1 material. Hopefully we'll see some more renders in this style.

Here's my contribution:

Yes kitty
It's more practicle to paint over something ( a plan 3D or any object 3D)as on a empty black background :)
And you can rotate, move, size all of them :)
Have happy painting!

Sorry Fouad, just now saw your question???

Here is another WIP done with this material. I hope the setting I used and dragged to the canvas shows, if not I will say what I did

http://www2.zbrushcentral.com/uploaded_from_zbc/200402/user_image-1076020652uog.jpg

In case the settin does not show. What I do first is draw out my model, then I download the ink material (could do right away), then in the modifier of that material it has I believe Contrast, Intensity and the blend curve. The blend curve is what I am hoping shows. I never once, in any of the ones posted here, had a straight line for any of them. And when I was changing a slider on both the Contrast and intensity, I watched and went for the one with the best defined "ring" around the model. Then in lighting (just learning it), I went to adjustments, clicked it on, did another contrast intensity, but mainly I fiddled with the RBG curve, the RED curve, the GREEN curve, and very little in the above with the BLUE curve.

The real power and ability to see the power of this tool is the rendering. But the "aura" around the model I find damned cool, and you get that in that tools modifiers.

Hope the curve shows

Mandy

Kitty
02-05-04, 02:57 PM
Frenchy, yes I have learned that the hard way. But the only reason I posted that painting here is because I could use the ink material on it because it was on a 3d plane. :D And it gave far different results then I had gotten before, and I love it much more.

This is such a wonderful material I want to shout my joy ... um, maybe I am :D

This is awesome! Everyone's work here is amazing! Especially the Autumn-like forest scene you did Kitty, that is beautiful!

I can really get into this shader! Here is an older 3D sphere head I did a while back.

http://www2.zbrushcentral.com/uploaded_from_zbc/200402/user_image-1076037187hvd.jpg

And to think, I use to draw, scan, and digitally ink this type of stuff by hand! Thanks for sharing this Fouad, and Aurick!

wchamlet
02-05-04, 07:48 PM
I don't know what problems you are having, but all I did was download Aurick's ink material, then import it into the material palette. Then I opened up the file I wanted to try this out on, and presto, instant inked image.

Another update testing the ink material. I can imagine with the new Zbrush, doing stuff that is highly detailed will provide some awesome detail as far as contours go. Zbrush is one amazing program!

Here is what is possible if you :

1.Take a MEGBZ grab of your sceen with autocrop off,

2.Clear sceen

3.Flood fill MRGBZ color grab into sceen useing Flat material...

4.Next use the alpha you made ,invert, and make stencil... then with stencil controls use the fit to screen...

5.Now choose Hilighter 2 brush, square Alpha, and make Drag stroke, with ALT held 3X...

6.Then turn stencil off and admire/save your work :)

Gives a great 3d effect to the shader, useing just a WEE bit of post processing...

ZBRUSH RULEZ!!!

Enjoy all !!!!

Hi Polaris
Cool technic
Another easy cool way is this !
:b3: Use the replay last function :) (menu Stroke)
So when you draw something( grabbed), or redraw a 3D object, you can try many variations !
All is apply in the same place !!! (and with any action, Material, Zadd, colors,Alpha,.. quasi anything
Just press Ctrl+z for take back

It's an alternative of the Stencil :) More easy as nothing to move :)
Have fun zbrushing!
Pilou
Ps For the Fouad Ink : just Go to material sub-menu S1 for Change the colors
So all change immediatly and you can make many variations
Pss Cool drawing 3d, Mentat

But I promess, I forget it and re-discovered it by hazard.
though it is, it is wise to remember it.

I'm liking the rhino in your image, Glenn.

Is there a way to play up the cross-hatch look to some of these settings? Something like Arthur Rackham, perhaps?

G

aurick
10-08-04, 02:49 PM
Well, one way would be through adding high resolution detail to the model that looks like cross-hatching.

Another idea might be to use one of the Custom Filter brushes. If you do a search here at ZBC, you should find the tutorials by people like Cameyo with various settings for the modifiers. One of those might give just the effect that you'd want.

If you use the filter or (or any other brush, for that matter), you will need to bake the layer. This will make the shading effect into something that can be effected by the other brushes.
