Hi one and all!

I've been playing around in Sculptris for some months, and when I got Windows 7 64x Ultimate, I started experience some enerving problems regarding starting up Sculptris. Every time I try to do this, I tend to get an Appcrash message.

How can I solve this problem?

I've been quite addicted to sculptris, so yeah... It's a bit lame that it started to happen now...

Hi. Can you enable the log file and see what it writes on the last few lines, perhaps indicating where the crash occured? Edit config.txt to say "log_enabled 1", or you can simply remove the config and settings files to create a default startup log. You should make backups of those files if you want to restore settings later.

About topic, some custom-made materials are busted. I had a similar problem when there were about 40 png files in the materials folder, so I had to check file per file till I found the 2-3 corrupted files.

@drpetter, have you noticed that you can drag ANY kind of file to the sculptris.exe and it will run anyway, no successfully nor any usable, just a messed up Sculptris window? I discovered it accidentally.

Hi DrPetter!

Well, I tried to do that in the sculptris config.txt .

It didn't report anything. It's when I start the program it instantly appcrashes, so I can't even get in to the program.

Anyhow, this is from the "log".txt

"log start -> 'D:\sculptris\log.txt'
CreateGLWindow()
CreateGLWindow: start
CreateGLWindow: register class
CreateGLWindow: adjustwindowrect
CreateGLWindow: create window
CreateGLWindow: getdc"

Serek: Not really. I tried it now with a few different unrelated files and it seemed to start up as usual, without problems.

Well, maybe I only tried with the adjacent DAT files, nothing you could call an exhaustive research. Maybe that "ANY" has been a little exaggerated :o

Athgarde: That's useful information though. If there's no more text after that in the log, it seems to indicate that your ATI graphics driver crashed when Sculptris tried to get a device context for the application window. I don't have any immediate ideas about the cause behind it though. Are you having any problems with other OpenGL applications?

DrPetter: No, I don't have any similar problems with any other openGL application. So, I don't really know why this is happening though. It's quite enerving when beeing addicted to this software :confused:

I read somewhere that setting mt_maxthreads to 0 in Sculptris config.txt helped.

Also you could try setting enable_shaders 0 and see if it helps.

Sorry if you have tried the above already. :)

Thank you guys for giving me your time on helping me here.
Anyhow, I've managed to solve the problems, I needed the new graphicscard drivers ( thought i already had installed them )

So thanks anyway!

People with similar problems should fix the latest graphics drivers to avoid the same problems of which i was having.
