View Full Version : Digital Soup
Trying something a little different. After seeing alot of the cool monochromic images being posted at Renderosity I thought I would try my hand at one. Except I couldn't help it, I had to throw some color in it

Hi Digits,
How in the heck did ya do this. too cool. This could be sold as a framed image for someones home or office. If you make more of these, you should consider selling them.
Real nice. :tu:
Waiter, there's an eye in my soup!
I like this style alot. I especially like the depth you get when some areas are translucent and the layers are blending together. I'm assuming that you you did something with the layers modifier, but when I looked I only saw something called interactive displacement. Maybe it's the clone brush. Either way I'd love to know. Good job.
Thank you all for your comments, it is much appreciated.
Zoid I think the effect that interests you is the use of Fog. In the render modifiers you can set color or use a texture. The right texture selection is used as an alpha map, that is whatever is white will be 100% opaque and black 0%, in between will be varying levels. The left texture selection will be the coloring of the fog and what you will see will depend on the alpha texture. Also you control the range of depth with the zdepth 1 and zdepth 2. 1 being closest and negative number to you and 2 away positive. Use your mouse to drag the selection to your image and it will automatically set these for you.
I hope I made sense, but I love Fog, in fact one thing I always say is "Onward thru the Fog"
Oops! Dang refresh button
sorry about the extra post

Hello Digits,
I too like this image. You've achieved a nice depth, my eye roams the various depths and glides between them.
I agree with Zoid, the blending and translucency is well done - it enhances the depth. I've always found convincing translucency very difficult to achieve - this succeeds! :tu:
