View Full Version : Decrease lag when painting?

I have a weaker computer, it's a few years old now and I got it for as cheap as I could. But it still manages to run most things (including Sculptris) just fine. Occasionally, if I've had a resource-draining program open for a few hours (such as Photoshop) it will begin to slow down, and I don't have enough RAM to even install things like Illustrator.

Sculptris works well enough for me, unless my shapes become too detailed or I load too many different objects. But the problems come when painting. I know there's nothing wrong with my video card, because the shaders work and I can paint, but loading the models when I click 'Paint' takes ages and it causes my computer to really slow down, and when it finally loads, it freezes for a minute, then will let me move my mouse, but it lags so badly that it makes doing anything productive nearly impossible and it causes too many mistakes.

Is there a way I could reduce the lag and load time? I'm not too obsessed with the highest graphical art I can make so I'm willing to sacrifice the appearance to make the paint feature more workable with more complicated models.

Also, I'm sorry if this has been answered before or I'm missing something obvious but I'm just starting to really figure this amazing program out.
