My first try at a landscape!
Modeled, textured and rendered in ZBrush1.23
No Postwork(except my logo and jpeg conversion) I made the grass with the fiber brush... Thanks for looking!

This came out great. Grass and stone texture are both convincingly real. An accomplished image of a beautiful landscape.

I agree with the other comments...this image reminds me of what it would be looking up on a hillside created by a now cooling lava flow and the grass adds the new life trying to make it's way up the new formation...loved the sky also ...very very nice work

Very nice grass! What settings did you use
for fiber brush? Did you first bake the layer?

Thank you for posting so we can all appreciate the image. nice colour variations in the fog. :tu: :b3:

First of all, Thank you all for all the great comments! I really appreciate the feedback.
Bastard76- Yes, you should bake the layer first. The settings I used are pretty much as follows... For grass I find that I have much more control with the DENSITY set at 0%, use ZDEPTH in the DRAW palette to adjust fiber length, Be sure BACK COLOR is on if you want duo color fibers(a gradient from the beginning of the fiber to the end of it)and use both colors in the COLOR palette for your fiber colors. If BACK COLOR is off then your fibers will only be one color. For grassy fibers set the GRAVITY to a negative value(this will make the fibers curve upward). Adjust the THICKNESS of your fiber to your liking.
I did not mess with TURBULENCE, or SHAPE to create this grass.
Note: TURBULENCE makes the fibers point in random directions and SHAPE controls whether the fiber is rectangular or equilateral.
Also, turn on RGB ANTIALIASING to antialias the edges of the fibers.
Kathy, I hope this sheds some more light on the subject... I am always glad to share what little knowledge I have! ;~)
Thanks again everyone!
Michael
