I was on a ZBrush marathon last weekend trying to finish some stuffs for the book project.

This image was created for 14 straight hours in one sitting. (I'll never do it again) It's too exhausting...

However., after seeing the result in the end.., I felt relieved.

...'just wanna' share this with you guys..!

there are no words to describe the amazing talent you have, Saint. i am working on a knight that i will post on here when i'm done with him, but i could never hope that he would be as good as your postings.
hey, i have a question. how did you do those light rings around that diamond. and also, how do you do your backgrounds?

thanx for posting this great image!

it was well worth the extra-long-time sitting, Saint and there is such a vast amount of details in it that makes me wonder if the session did not take 48 hrs.! :D bravissimo once more!

Wow! All those colors seem to jump right off the "page"! There are so many thigs to look at in this image...the pretty pink lightball thing, the mighty sword, the rather regal/smug looking head, and MORE of those beautiful ropes!
:)
(More, more more!) ;)

If pixologic ever decided to distribute ZBrush trading cards, they've got their first set using your images. Great work!

Thanks for the very nice comments.

Yes I think I'm starting to get in the ZBrush groove again. Although I still need to catch on a lot of things as far as new features are concern. There's a lot of things that I want to get a better grasp of. (like fog, alphas, and texture mapping.) But I don't want to just slap it there for the sake of using new features.

I've said it once before and just the same., I'll say it again... There's really no trick on the way I do things. Almost all my objects come from spheres. (It's all sculpt, sculpt & sculpt.) I don't even change the default brush when I'm sculpting.
Sometimes., it's nice to turn off "symetry" when sculpting to break the uniform look.

Also on my backgrounds, it's all brush strokes. (sphere and simple brush.) I don't use alphas and never used blur. I'd like to keep my steps simple. I also like mixing different colors. One of my early early odd jobs while I was in college was doing painted backgrounds for a photography studio.
This is why I love doing backgrounds. It was a good training for me because I learned a lot about how brushstrokes behave.

It was also in the job that I learned about lighting. Lighting in a photography studio can very much be applied to "virtual" sets. I always use what I call the "pyramid" set up. I always use 3 lights. (2 sunlight and one spot) However, in other 3d program, I use 1 ambient, 1 spot/point and one directional.

Lights play a very important role in enhancing an image. Too much lights can wash out an image.(overexpose) Using less lights can add so much drama to a scene but you have to be careful with ZBrush because the program has the tendency to make everything too dark. Play around with different combo on settings. This applies not only to lights, but also with materials and other things.

Important thing is having FUN while creating something!
