Hello everyone,

I have problems with ZBrush crashing after using “SAVE” in v 1.23. Using “SAVE AS” with the same file name does not produce a crash. I am using Windows98 on one machine, and NT on another. Both machines have the same problem.

I have seen posts with other users reporting the “SAVE” problem; however, not all users are having this problem. Kathy reported that she does not have the “SAVE” problem, and she is using Windows2000.

Also,

I have noticed a problem with exporting PSD files from the alpha palette in v 1.23.

When the files are reimported into ZBrush, they are tiled with a 2x2 mosaic of the original image. Opening these files in other programs produces an error.

Files exported as a BMP do not produce this problem.

FYI Chris. Since my problems after the defrag, I can no longer use the save button without a crash.

Soooo, ZuZu,Pix etc, The save button pulls an error and shuts down ZBrush on Win2KS2

We're currently working on a patch that will allow the 'Save' function to work properly for everyone.

ChrisD-
I am not having problems exporting PSDs from the Alpha Palette into Photoshop. The file opens properly in Photoshop with two Channels, the first one being the texture, and the second one containing depth information. If I save this file in Photoshop and reopen it as an Alpha in ZBrush, it loads properly. If I don't save it in Photoshop first, it reopens in ZBrush with both channels visable, which is the tiling that you meantioned. We'll look into this.

Could you send me an example of one of those Alpha Palette exported PSDs that will not open in other programs?

I tried the alpha PSDs in question in another application (3D Exploration) last night, and found I could open and view them correctly. I had originally tried to open them in Photoshop 5.0 LE, and the picture viewer that comes with Quicktime 5.

Thanks,
