Hi.
This work is an imitation of Steve McCurry's photograph.
This is a personal 3D work.
I watched Steve McCurry's photo exhibition.I was struck with his photographs.
I tried to express his exquisite pieces of art work.
Tool : Z-Brush , Max ,Photoshop

You have done very well. I saw this photo some time ago and I was thinking to see it here that it was your photograph.
But when I watch full thread then I realized that it's in 3d.
Very nice and realistic.
And the main thing that you maintain the feel of the real reference.
It's same like that...
Great job.....:tu::tu::tu::tu::tu:
Very cool, what method did you use for painting the skin and how did you get the eyes looking so realistic? :D

It Looks great in still (but so does original photo), but it's hard to tell from still how much of it is photo projected on model and over painted in PS? (like hair and folds looks overpainted in ps)
If u could rendered turntable in max or present render passes to show how much of work you've done, then it will be impressive. Until then cant say nothing good or bad of model or the texture (or the lack of it).
great photo though for sure. :tu:
PS: Not dissing and not trolling you, if u done all the hard work trying to mimic the photo, then it's Great Job. But if u trying to fool people by projecting famous photograph on generic model, then that's bit low. In Either way, I want to see evidence of hard work before i can crit or praise. I think that's fair. :tu:

As for the face modeling/Map how did you import that into ZBrush. I have so many questions as a matter of fact because I Love that Photorealism artwork and how you portrayed that in ZBrush caught my attention for this particular exciting moment. What email can I get in touch of you with for further questions about how you did your piece...Thank You! Enjoy you day and keep up Stunning Work

It turned out very well. I'm surprised by the imitation of a well know photo, nut given the typical approach out here, such an approach takes on a special form of originality. And it's not like you can just rob it. You did the hard work.

i m still confused with this image.looks like most of the work is done in photoshop. the breakdown of the model doesnt make any sense to me until you show the turntable with textures.
only then i can appreciate this model.

I agree with Samar above, I'm very sceptical about this one. I think what we're seeing in this image is mostly the original photograph projected onto geometry from the viewpoint of the camera. Yeah, of course it looks realistic, you're looking at a photograph!
I wonder how this model would hold up if seen from a different camera angle, or rotated in the viewport in ZBrush...? ;)

oh wow! Good point and enlightening. Since I'm a Zbrush newbie

It doesn't matter how it would hold up in the viewport. It looks good and that's all that matters. I do agree with you about the textures being projected on to the model, but isn't that what most people do ? Take textures and stitch them back in photoshop ? Don't get me wrong I would love to see the break down of this but saying, between the lines, that the author is a fake without proof and arguments is just not cool.
Lets just stick around and hope that the author will give more insight to how he created this wonderful and breathtaking peace.

Bomoh: I'm just saying a lot of that image appears to be straight up the original photograph, the eyes in particular.
But if the artist has a beautifully proportioned and detailed ZBrush sculpture underneath the textures, hats off to him! :)
Bomoh: I'm just saying the a lot of that image is just straight up the original photograph, which makes it impossible to gauge the quality of the modelling.
For example, if someone had this in their portfolio and they went for an interview for a CG modelling job, the first thing the interviewer would ask to see would be images of the untextured model viewed from different angles. Of course, that could well be an opportunity to impress by showing a beautifully proportioned and detailed blank ZBrush sculpture. :)
I would love to see this in raw form as well. I was saying that its not good to make assumptions based on the fact that the author did not upload a turntable or a high res screen grab. He is merely sharing his artwork with all of us (not applying for a job as a modeler :) ). That being said he created an amazing replica of the original photograph.
No disrespect from here, just a friendly zbrusher passing by giving his opinion :).

I'm noticing a lot of people saying things such as "This is great!" and "well done!" These are ridiculous understatements. This is one of the most incredible zbrush renders I have ever seen! I might go as far as to say the absolute best render I've ever seen! Phenomenal! I hope this ends up in the freaking Louvre!
How did you map the diffuse? Do you take photographic texture or do you paint it from scratch? What do you use for material settings?
Very inspiring...................I saw this image years ago in National Geographic with its auspicious qualities.

Wow, you've done a fantastic job with one of the iconic photos of the modern era. Saw the eyes in the top row and instantly knew what it was, but I didn’t think you'd nail the rest of it as well as you've done. Great work.
I so remember the doco about the photographers hunt to find the girl after 20 years had passed (or perhaps 15, I don't remember). It was incredibly revealing to see what life had done to her innocent beauty. It was completely drained by the harshness of a life in a war-torn nation, and exacerbated by poverty and the domination of the religious zealot men who ruled every aspect of her life. One couldn’t help but reflect that in different circumstances she could have matured into a truly stunning woman with those haunting green eyes. But poverty took a cruel toll on the little girl who had her life ahead of her, and even at this tender age it's clear that those remarkable eyes have seen things a child should never have to deal with. Fantastic work to bring this haunting photograph back into focus for a younger generation, congratulations.

How did you map the diffuse? Do you take photographic texture or do you paint it from scratch? What do you use for material settings? OK, I see posts like this and think people are giving much too much credit to the Zbrush work here and much too little credit to the power of the original photograph that is the inspiration. Seriously folks, this is more a piece of photo collage than an original artwork or render. Sorry to relapse and be a stubborn mule, but there it is. ;)
very well captured indeed, looks quite like the photo...
still a bit too glossy tho on the skin, just a lil bit
the cloth looks like it was painted imo
the eyes are as far as i remember much more blue, like really really blue :P
but you really got the expresion right
nice job indeed :)
p.s.
your homepage might need a better english translation, its understandable but not quite correct yet
id also suggest to use low resolution pics for your thumbnails, the time to load them is quite long atm

Only thing that kinds of distracts me is the clothing.
I think the lack of texture in the fabric makes the clothing look painterly, while the rest feels photorealistic.

well done model of the head but im not sure how much of this is real zbrush sculpting and how much is photo mapping...
I dont like to push this button - but you actualy used the photo of this girl for diffuse map - with shadows ect.. so its a bit feaked. Right and lef side of the texture is so different... Like i sad i dont like to say this but its not full cg work ( i dont mean that photos cant be used on textures ofcourse.. ) its about diffuse texture most , should be done by you from skin pieces ect from some of your photos or stock photos, painted some - without lighting ect on it..same with eyes ... all that stuff should be 3d , not "camera mapped" from oryginal photo . Put camera mapped photo on 3d model is not big deal... Prove me please if im wrong - than i will appoligize you with pleasure. But for now i see a bit feaked this, and you should admite this somehow because lot of people will not sleep nights how you did this :) .Same with cloth , its bit mixed with photo as well in few places... on cloth model screens its seen that is not full mach final image. Again, if im wrong im sorry if not you should sorry i guess
