Thats fantastic josh! Simply awesome :)

I only have one wee suggestion if I may. The bottom of the vase looks a little flat (duh! I know its suppose to be flat :P but you know what I mean/ There looks as though there should be some shading on it. Not a flat color.

Apart from that; totally brilliant. That flower looks AMAZING! the vase also looks brilliant :) I'm sure your mother will love it

I had the same problem when looking at this -- the bottom of the vase has a problem that nags on a subconscious level. Then it hit me: it has no transparency.

I'm assuming by looking at the vase that you used the SweepProfile3D tool? Which means that you probably used a Circle3D for the bottom. Try giving it the same material that was used for the vase, but also put it on a separate layer so that it can show the vase behind.

If the transparency on transparency approach doesn't work, then you'll need to try using the Cloner brush to pull color from the other layers and paint it onto the circle manually. Here is a thread (http://www.pixolator.com/zbc-bin/ultimatebb.cgi?ubb=get_topic&f=1&t=000142) that shows that process for you.

hey everyone, thanks for the comments and suggestions. aurick, i didn't put the bottom of the vase on a different layer, so that's why it's opeque. when i edit this pic using peoples' suggestions, i'll make the bottom transparent. when i realized the bottom of the vase should be on another layer, i couldn't undo it, so i posted it this way to see if it was noticeable...which it is, i guess...i'll change that...thanks for the tip...

Edit: and here's the edited pic...i might add a pool of water spilling out of the vase if i can figure out how to do good reflections. if anyone knows how to do good reflections, i'd love to know your technique.

Hey Jib, since you asked for input, here's mine, maybe a little out of synch with the ones so far...I like the rose, but I'm not sure about the vase...My reason is that if my mother walked into a room, and saw a vase laying on its side, she would feel compelled to set it upright...I think the vase lying on its side makes the whole thing a little awkward. I would suggest not using a vase, but working out a new way of displaying the rose. You could have it laying on something, or held in something, or placed on an unusual background painting...
The vase seems 'knocked over' and doesn't feel right... ;)
(I like the rose!!! :) :tu:

Since everything has already been said about the vase , I'd like to suggest a leaf or 2 , and than maybe a drop of water on one of the leaves :)
You just gave me an idea to work out in Z :)
Anyway , thats a really nice looking rose you got there :)

That's one terrific looking rose- I'm sure your mom will love it. The fact that it's laying on its side begging to be righted actually compells me to look at it more..........
Water drops and a leaf would be a great addition!
