View Full Version : Some Foliage used In Land/SeaScapes
Many have wondered about the foliage used in my Land/SeaScapes. although I have provided ZCsripts, many do not realize that all are just a modification of the basic technique.
By creating these on a black background , they can be imported as a texture using the DragRectangle and the 3D plane with transparency on. The intensity can then be varied as required. Also the image can be used to build up an area to the density desired. You can also rotate, move, and size it as desired.
I hope this is helpful to some one.

Thanks DeeVee, those will be handy. I'm trying to build up my own but I admit, I'm lazy ~G~ These are great.
Whoah I never thought of that idea before Deevee, thanks alot I can think of many applications of this technique already :D :D :D
Thanks. I am pleased you can make use of these, at least it inspired some posibilities.
Below is another one I did today when experimenting with Fall Colours. http://www2.zbrushcentral.com/zbc_uploads/user_image-1032130920shv.jpg

Not to look to stupid, but I love your leaves etc, but have no idea how to d/l them to my texture files. Help please :(
SpriteD, I would download the total image and then crop the various leaves and save them in your texture folder as a Psd file. You can give each one a number or name if you wish. Then you can follow the instructions given with the image posted. I hope this helps, if it does not contact me via a PM.

Thanks for the comments, I am pleased that someone finds this useful.
Frenchy, thanks for the links via Google. The difference is that all of the foliage displayed in this thread were created using the technique available in the QuickLinks. Using that method you can create any type of foliage you wish to.
In the past month or so, several excellent techniques have been used to produce very impressive foliage, so the members have several methods available for their use.

Thanks for the examples Joe. I worked this technique out for myself quite a while ago, but have never used it other than in practice pictures, generally preferring to work with alphas, the fibre brush and latterly the spray stroke. But it's nice to be reminded of it - I must give it a "proper" go sometime. :tu: :)

nice Joe...my father in law (an old country boy) showed me something that resembled this growing in his yard...one version he said it was medicinal and another that was somewhat like it he said they used to cook with as a seasoning...I cant remember what he called it though....He can name every weed in his yard....and when I mow for him he has to point out which ones not to cut down....I tend to get carried away with the weed eater and mower :) You have some very interesting plants on this thread Joe...thnx for sharing them with us. :tu: :tu:
wow, DeeVee.. that last one is amazing!

Thanks DeeVee, these are all lovely! You obviously spent considerable time working on these. I appreciate your sharing!!
:)
Thanks, what would be nice for you to do is use it as a texture, employing the 3dplane and dragrectangle as I have been doing for months, put several together rotating it as you do and see the beautiful foliage you can create. Of course a good tree skeleton will certainly help. If you, do post it here.
DeeVee,
Joe.
