Anyone here got the new Macbook pro?
I'm need to get a laptop for myself, but I'm confused on what to get. I don't want one of those heavy and huge workstation laptops, I'm looking for something easy to carry around and powerful enough to run maya, photoshop and zbrush. Will mostly be doing modeling and animation.
I like the size of the macbook pro and people say its got good build quality.
If anyone has the i7 macbook pro could you please tell me how zbrush runs on it. How high can you subdivide the mesh.

If anyone has any other recommendations, I'd be happy to check them out.

I am not sure about the new model but I am more then happy with my older macbook pro (core 2 duo with 3 GB ram ) It has really good performance. I dont have any issues running Maya and rendering stuff on it while Im away from my workstataion. It never failed on me and I practically finished my studies using it. I would also check out Dells solutions if I were in your place. Good luck and happy shopping :)

I just bought the new model, i7 with 8gb of ram and the performance is phenomenal. If you can swing it I would definitely upgrade the ram. You don't have to pay the $400 that Apple is asking, you can easily go on Newegg and get 8gb of DDR3 ram that will work for $250-$300 if you don't mind installing it yourself. It's super simple to do it.
