I now have a fuller fruit bowl after some more exprimentation. I think I took more time on the lemon (my all time favourite fruit) than on the others (and it probably shows) but I am pleased with what I could achieve after only a couple of days. You certainly see things in a different way when you try to create images.
One general question - do most people here draw from what they have actually seen or from their imaginations?
I am also impressed/inspired by what everyone else is doing and will keep visiting for ideas.

hard question to answer..but I would answer it as YES... ;) For myself, I keep plenty of reference materials around with lots and lots of images...I used to keep them in files as I ripped them out of magazines and so forth....plus I keep my sketches handy ....(I am always drawing...though my stuff isnt that good, but its a good way to readily get the imaginative juices flowing and to manually record my thoughts...and alot of what I do is just made up stuff...I guess it depends on what mood I am in when I sit down at the computer as to what I am going to do....I will give you an instance of today about my personal thought process...as you may have read I just got myself dentures for the first time...anyways...I don't sleep with them in my mouth, so I leave them in a tray of water to keep them moist. That tray is sitting at my monitor....well I noticed when I got up this morning that they were not even halfway covered in water. I was a bit on the suprised side....and none of the water had leaked onto the desk area....then it hit me, like a ton of bricks....my personal cat, that owns me (young female calico) had to have drank half the water in the tray....sounds gross but the water was clean...anyhoo....I told the story over lunch today and I thought you know I could do that in Zbrush....so you can expect to be seeing an image of that soon....I don't know if this was what you were asking exactly....but you can take a scene out of your daily life and turn it into a whimsical little project....and though I never actually saw my calico do it...it was not hard to piece it together in my mind as a realistic image...hope I wasnt too wordy in answering ya...Your still life is coming along quite nicely too.....You will find that on ZBC that inspiration comes from many places including each other...so don't be suprised if you see some more bowls of fruit show up from some of the other artists on the forum....Keep up the great work.. :tu: :tu: :tu: :tu: :tu: :tu: :tu:
I am happy to see that you got over the little hump you were having. A Very pleasing still life.
