Background inspired by the Saint. Structure fabrication by Kruzr. Landscape inspired by living in the desert for 20 years before moving to New Jersey. How do you get those cool new shadows to work? (Rhom?)

Whoa Zoid - very nice :tu: :tu: :tu:

I've had much difficulty in creating images with deep depth without resorting to fog - you've done it wonderfully. Nice rhythm between the sky and the dunes. Convincing scale. Indeed great tones in the sky.

:tu: Nice one Zoid!

I like everything about this one. Looks like something from the cover of a science fiction novel.

Could you tell us how you did the sky?

Simply magic! Wonderful things you have done here with texture, perspective and sky. Looks like we've landed on the planet of Arrakas, perhaps a Sandworm will stop by and have us for lunch.

'Morning Zoid . . . A really great looking scene! :)

I can't pinpoint any portion of this image as being my favorite part, due to the fact that all of the parts blend together perfectly to make the "Whole Image", & without any part of it being more important than another part. ;)

I think it would be a fantastic contribution for ZBrush users, to have a simple tutorial on how you went about creating the "Sky" part of the image, & even maybe the "Dunes" too. You don't see skies like this very often in a ZBrush image.

:D Totally Impressed! :D

Have a good one & I'll see'ya later . . . Mark.

Thanks everyone,

This was extremely fun to make. The sky is a technique that use way too much, but never get tired of. It is a 3D plane with the glow material. I initialize the plane with high h and v divisions and set the glow a little lower than the default to about 25 (S1 Modifiers). I select a medium toned color to "fill object" with,in the color pallette and then in the transform-draw mode, with RGB only selected, I begin to paint on top of that basic tone with lighter and darker colors and different brush sizes.
I made a custom fog alpha by creating new layer and then simple brushing around in areas where I wanted fog. I couldn't see my custom fog shape until turned off the main image layer. I used the mrgbzgrabber tool to capture an alpha image for this fog layer, which was then loaded into the alpha window for fog rendering. I finished up with some smudging after baking the image. It got a little overworked I think though. Sometimes it's hard to know where to stop. :)

Very Nice Zoid! Glad to hear that I inspire you in some ways. You have quite unique steps in making your clouds!

It's cool that you're showing stuffs like this. Contrary to what most critics believed, ZBrush is not only a "face-maker" program.

...and this one very much proves it!
